The Sunday 60 Minutes interview with correspondent Ross Douthat covered Patrick’s thoughts on Lindsay killing their children and his decision to forgive his now-ex-wife.

CNN reported that he said, “I could piece together what it was like to be really, really anxious or depressed, but I didn’t know how to manage a postpartum illness.” Then he went on to explain that he thinks “mental illness has this ability to be tragically deceptive.”

Those who followed Lindsay Clancy’s trial know the jury deadlocked over whether she was criminally responsible for killing the children.

Talking About Testifying

In the interview, Patrick Clancy revealed that it wasn’t at all easy to give evidence in the case. He described it as “very difficult.”

Remember, he had to talk about a lot of things from the day in 2023 when Lindsay strangled their three kids, Cora, Dawson, and Callan, and then tried to kill herself.

The pressure got to him very badly ahead of the prosecution playing the recorded 911 call. He told Ross Douthat that he knew after a break what would happen.

A Panic Attack

Patrick said, “We did take a break right before they played the 911 call, which I knew was gonna be just horrific. And I went to a back room, and I started having this massive traumatic panic attack.”

Boston.com reported that Patrick Clancy described how his“heart was pounding.” He said, “They put me in an ambulance. They offered me some medication, but I said ‘I don’t want it, because I want to go back, and I want to finish this so I can be done with this.’ And I went back and finished the testimony.”
