Meghan Markle is back in the headlines after unveiling new As Ever product: matchboxes. In bold navy blue color and elegant lettering, the matchboxes were made to go hand-in-hand with As Ever scented candles.
Per the press release, the matchboxes are designed to sit in the collection to make your rituals that more graceful.
However, fans are convinced that the Duchess, who has seen herself labeled “Temu Duchess” from time to time throughout the years, must have sourced her latest product from the discounted site.
Meghan Markle’s Spokesperson Denies Products Are From Temu
Even though As Ever matchboxes were not designed to be stand-alone products, Meghan still did a full rollout for them regardless.
She started the product launch process by teasing fans, “A small spark, arriving tomorrow.”
However, when this “small spark” arrived, it came as part of a bundle of candles. This led many to brand her a “Temu Duchess,” with some going as far as to claim that she must have sourced the matchboxes from the cheap online store.
Ultimately, this led to an As Ever spokesperson to reply to the speculations, writing, “Thank you for drawing this false and defamatory tweet to our attention. For clarity, this is completely untrue; her products are not sourced from Temu.”
As Ever now sells a wide range of products, which includes candles, chocolates, wines and spreads.
However, the quality of her products were not the only things that were brought to question, as a resurfaced 2016 clip appears to show Meghan mocking overpriced candles.
Meghan Markle Called Over-priced Candles “Obnoxious” In A 2016 Interview
Now that Meghan Markle has a candle collection of her own that retails at $256, fans are now throwing back to an old footage of hers, where she labeled expensive candles “obnoxious.”
“There are no $100 candles on my site,” the former actress, 44, said in the 2016 footage, while promoting her then-blog, The Tig. “That’s so obnoxious.”
“I just want things on there that you can have. And I want people who understand that ethos,” the ‘Suits’ alum said, adding, “I’ve always crafted [The Tig] as ‘aspirational girl next door.’ Like, you can aspire for it but totally attain it too.”
Of course this adds just another notch for which detractors can use to call her a “hypocrite.”
