‘Mama June: Family Crisis’ star Jessica Shannon is indeed in the middle of her own “family crisis.”
In court documents obtained by E! News, the reality star filed for the dissolution of their marriage on the grounds that “that the marriage is irretrievably broken and there is no hope of reconciliation.” She filed for the divorce on July 26 at the Superior Court of Jones County in Georgia.
Fans immediately delved in to speculate that infidelity was most likely the cause of this divorce. A few days after the divorce filing, fans got their answer when Shyann admitted to cheating on Jessica.
Her admission comes nearly two months after Jessica, who listed their date of separation as June 1, confirmed that they had broken up after a year of marriage.
The 29-year-old is the second eldest of June “Mama June” Shannon and half-sister to Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson. As part of their divorce agreement, Jessica will be dropping McCant as her surname.
“Yes, I cheated,” the 23-year-old shared on Facebook July 21. “I take full responsibility for that. I’m not making excuses, and I’m not trying to change what happened.”
While Shyann knows that people will inevitably have opinions, she asked fans to understand that some information regarding their split will not be made public.
“I’ve owned my mistakes. That’s all I can do,” she added. “We’ve all made mistakes. We’ve all got a past. That’s nothing new,” ShyAnn wrote, admitting that she’s now in a loving relationship with a woman named MacKenzie.
Jessica Shannon Says She’s Ready To Move On Following Marriage Dissolution
ShyAnn has obviously moved on, so now Jessica must find a way to do so. And in her statement on Facebook, she hinted that she’s ready to do just that.
“At the end of the day, all I want is for everyone to be happy,” she wrote, then, pointing to her 8-year-old stepdaughter, she added, “The only thing that truly matters to me is that little girl. As long as she’s happy, loved, well taken care of, and I get to watch her grow into an amazing young woman, that’s all I care about.”
ShyAnn also shared that she wishes everyone the best as she continues to “move forward“ with her life.
Mama June didn’t have much to add to this narrative, except to say that she’s always the one to blame when relationships go wrong.
