Law & Order Queen Mariska Hargitay Confirms Elliot Stabler Is Back On SVU

The Law & Order SVU Season 28 premiere is right around the corner on NBC.  Mariska Hargitay and the gang will be back with all new episodes on Thursday October 8.

According to Law & Order spoilers, fans are in for a treat this season and Elliott Stabler is BACK!  Keep reading for all of the details.

Law & Order Fan Fave Returns

It has been years since Olivia Benson (Hargitay) and Elliott Stabler (Chris Meloni) were partners on Law & Order SVU.

Stabler made a few brief appearances since his exit almost 10 seasons ago.  But, from 2021-2025 Elliott Stabler was starring in his own spinoff.  Sadly, Organized Crime was canceled in early 2026.

There’s a silver lining to Organized Crime coming to an end, Elliott Stabler needs a new job!  Rumors have been floating around for months hinting that Stabler was headed back to his old stomping grounds on SVU.  Now, Mariska Hargitay has officially confirmed her partner’s return.

Is Elliott Stabler Back For Good

Mariska Hargitay recently appeared at an event with Jalen Brunson, Roommates Show Block Party Presented by DoorDash.

While cameras were rolling, Brunson put his pal Mariska on the spot and asked her about he Elliott Stabler return rumors.

The Law & Order Queen joked, “Well, I think you all know who’s back.  I got my old partner back.”

Brunson teased the actress and asked if Chris Meloni was back for good or just one episode.  Mariskay joked, “I’m not going to tell all.  It’s not that kind of show.”

Only time will tell is Chris Meloni is just making a guest appearance or back for good.  But the way Mariska said “I got my partner back,” implied that Stabler was WORKING a SVU again and not just visiting.
