Prince William and King Charles will visit the USA this year, and that might create a problem for the media. After all, lots of articles arrive about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Which storylines should they push? Read on for more details.
A Big Dilemma For The Media
A British royal commentator, Neil Sean recently talked about a major media dilemma during the upcoming royal tour. On his Daily News Headlines vlog, he argued that American outlets face a clear choice between the monarchy’s official duties or focusing on Prince harry and his wife. Of course, that’s if they want official “accreditation” to cover the royal tour.

Sean also discussed the planned visit of King Charles III and Prince William a bit further. He opined that the trip is a diplomatic win for the Prince of Wales. Obviously, any breaking news about his younger brother, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might upset William: especially if the press ask questions about his or his dad’s relationship with Harry.
Sean reminded his followers that the tour follows that of President Donald Trump to the UK in 2025. He said President Trump “just couldn’t get over what was put out for him” in Windsor. Next, the royal analyst predicted that Harry and Meghan would “seize the opportunity when real royals enter the United States.” Possibly, the inference is, that they might find something that might bring the focus on them with the media.
Warning About Dramatic Reports?
In his opinion, the US media need to be careful, because the visit by Charles and William isn’t just a casual one. So, he said that networks like CNN better be “on your best behavior.” Basically, any outlet wanting official access should avoid the Sussex storyline. According to Sean, “this isn’t control over the media. This is keeping the focus on the job.” That job, in his view, is proper royal diplomacy.
Some folks believe that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex deliberately grab the headlines with stunts to pull the focus away from Prince William and Princess Catherine. So, Sean anticipated “lots of stunts around that time.”
Serious News Or A ‘Soap Opera’
Additionally, he felt that the situation could be a battle between serious royal work and a “soap opera.” In his opinion, mainstream media now needs the monarchy for “box office” ratings. Naturally, that means that the media really should comply with the palace’s protocol rules.
Basically, what the commentator was getting at was the fact that King Charles and William embark on a high stakes tour. So, it might test the media loyalty and the Sussex influence against the official royal institution. Hopefully external drama won’t detract from the importance of the big event.
