A few years after Josh Duggar’s sentencing for child sexual crimes, Joseph Duggar was arrested for child molestation.
At present, he is likely lawyering up and gathering evidence for a coming court trial, but the reality of his arrest was not one that has been easy on his sisters.
Joy-Anna Duggar and Jinger Duggar Talk About the Pain of the Family’s Situation: “Rubbed In Our Faces”
Joy-Anna previously opened up about dealing with the pain of Josh’s arrest, which happened because the authorities confirmed that he did indeed possess child pornography – a crime which his sweet wife Anna Duggar once chose to call a “victimless crime.” Let’s not even get into the madness of such a proclamation.
Appearing on the May 27 episode of Jinger’s podcast, Joy-Anna candidly opened up about the “heavy” and “super dark” place she’s been in since Joseph’s arrest.
Joseph was arrested in March and charged with four counts of child molestation, for an incident involving a then-9-year-old girl.
Touching on the subject, Jinger, 32, revealed that it’s “been a hard season for a lot of us,” with Joy-Anna, 28, agreeing by calling it “the hardest time I’ve ever gone through.”
“I think we’re all grieving in different ways,” Joy-Anna said. “I think every day just feels so heavy.” While she admitted that she’s slowly “getting through all of this,” she said, “every day, it’s different,” and “certain things have gotten lighter” with time.
“But I have really — I’ve really been struggling, honestly. And I think I’ve had to lean on the Lord more than I ever have, which is a good thing. That’s a positive thing,” she said. “There’s no black and white answer.”
“You can’t plan for something like this,” Jinger commented. In response, Joy-Anna shared how she’s been able to tough through it, saying, “I have to like grab on to the positive things, because it’s been super hard and super dark and really heavy.”
“All that to say, I am holding in there. I’m doing okay,” Joy-Anna continued. “Trying to find the balance online, too, of how much to talk about. Because I feel like it’s already impacted my family so much. How much room do I want to give to it in my life?”
“I feel like the more I talk about it publicly, the more it just gets, like, rubbed in our faces, and I kind of want to just move on with life in some ways. And so that’s been a hard balance.”
On May 18, during his latest court date, Joseph’s legal team formally entered a not guilty plea. His legal team also sought to lift the he order preventing Joseph to be reunited with his four years young kids.
