The third trial for former Hollywood boss Harvey Weinstein began in New York this week. For him, despite already sitting behind bars, his legal issues seem far from over. Right now, it’s all about Jessica Mann, who accused him of the worst type of assault in 2013. True crime followers got an update as she prepared to take the stand again. Read on to find out more.

Witness Felt Intimidated

The prosecution seemed keen to show that Harvey Weinstein could be rather aggressive in character. So, they called hotel staff to the stand to highlight that ahead of the alleged sexual assault at a Manhattan hotel.

Actually, it seemed fairly effective as the court heard a lot about Weinstein’s behavior. Per NBC News, a former employee who checked the pair in recalled the interaction.

They claimed, “I felt intimidated,” and noted that the mogul was “leaning forward” and his voice sounded “firm and loud.” Additionally, the the witness claimed that Weinstein tried rushing the entire process.

Power and Manipulation

While that might not land Harvey Weinstein more years in prison, the tactic seemed good for the prosecution. That’s because they argued that the case demonstrated “power, control, and manipulation.”

Going back over old ground, they also alleged that Weinstein used his influence in the industry to prey on women who hoped for acting roles.

Unsurprisingly, the defense demonstrated a different take on it. Per Weinstein’s attorneys, the relationship was consensual and they suggested Mann simply regretted her decisions. Not wrongly, it comes down to a he-said-she-said situation, and the case would boil down to “her word against her own word.”

The Long Legal Road

Really, this seems to take a lifetime to resolve all the true crime facts and allegations against Harvey Weinstein. After all, it’s the third time that a jury hears similar evidence. Back in 2020, a conviction was overturned on appeal.

Then in a second trial in 2025, it all ended with a deadlocked jury. So far, he’s served nearly six years and currently gets held at Rikers Island. Overall, he will serve about 16 years, even without the current case.

Old & Innocent?

The former star-maker is now 74 years old and he appeared in court using a wheelchair. Persistently, he claimed his innocence for a long time.

Of course, true crime fans probably know that initial allegations against Harvey Weinstein kickstarted the popular #MeToo movement in 2017. And, it was all started by Alyssa Milano who retweeted the hashtag by activist Tarana Burke.

In the comments section on YouTube, some folks noticed that prison doesn’t seem to do much for the appearance of the once so powerful mogul. One commenter opined:

Honestly the only good thing about this is seeing Harvey decay away. Dude looks more and more like sht every time you see him. Won’t be long until he’s gone.

Well, it seems as if some bots entered the conversation and lots of people noted that when one comment said, “I hope those that are found guilty receive the full extent of the law and may the victims find peace.”

Not many more comments arrived because for many folks, apart from Jessica Mann, obviously, Harvey Weinstein seems like old news. And, whether he serves 16 or even 25 years, it seems nobody cares very much.
