GH Kate Mansi Reveals Why She Left Soap And New Project

This month on General Hospital, viewers said goodbye to fan fave Kristina Corinthos-Davis as she left town for medical school at UCLA.

Kate Mansi’s final airdate on the daytime show was on June 12, the soap star confirmed she was exiting just a few weeks before.

Now, the actress is speaking out in a new interview and explaining why she made the difficult decision to not a sign a new contract with the ABC soap.

Kristina Leaves Port Charles For Good

Kristina Corinthos-Davis grew up on General Hospital and is a fan fave among viewers.  As the daughter of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), we have seen Kristina grow up right before our eyes.

Although, she has been played by numerous actresses including Lexi Ainsworth,  Kali Rodriguez, Lindsey Morgan, and most recently Kate Mansi.

When Mansi took over the role of Kristina in 2023, she signed a contract for three years with ABC.

The actress was not a newbie on the daytime soap scene, and was well-known for her playing Abigail Deveraux on Days of Our Lives for several years.

The DOOL alum quickly made her new role her own and became a part of the General Hospital family.

Why Did Kate Mansi Leave

Now that Kate Mansi’s final scenes have aired on General Hospital, the actress sat down with TV Insider and dished on her exit and why she left.

The actress explained that she gave the soap notice a few months ago and decided that she wasn’t going to renew her contract when it ran out in April.  That’s why the writers decided to send Kristina Corinthos-Davis away to medical school.

Her last day on set was an emotional one.  Mansi dished to TV Insider, “I made a little speech, and I said how recently I had lost a very good friend, Patrick Muldoon [ex-Austin, Days of Our Lives], and that experience made me very aware of the friendships we create in these jobs on shows like this every single day and how much I cherish them.”

The former Kristina portrayer is planning on spending some time traveling this summer, her husband is currently working overseas in Europe.  Plus, in the Fall she has a new project lined up and we will pass on all the details as soon as they are available.
