Caleb Flynn faces true crime murder charges following the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. You might remember him as a contestant on the reality TV show, American Idol back in 2013. Read on for more details.

How It Started

It all started with a 911 call by Caleb Flynn, who told the operator that he called them after someone broke into their home and shot Ashley.

TMZ reported on it, and the true crime suspect continued by talking about blood everywhere and an unresponsive wife.

He also claimed he found the “door to the garage was wide open.” Then he begged them, “Please hurry, please!”

Arrested For Alleged Murder

The drama didn’t end with the 911 call for the former pastor. Three days later, he ended up arrested. In fact, the Tipp City, Ohio cops charged him with murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence.

During a recent update on the Law&Crime Network on YouTube, Chris Stewart replayed the audio from the 911 call.

Plus, they updated on the “former pastor” and “one-time American Idol contestant’s” true crime. Interestingly, Stewart noted that he hadn’t been in trouble with the law before.

Apparently, court documents now allege Caleb Flynn shot Ashley Ashley “with a 9mm handgun, [and] staged the scene to mislead police.”

A Pretend Home Invasion?

Other news arrived during the podcast that revealed that police were told it was a home invasion. However, the cops also cited inconsistencies like tampered garage doors, not to mention “heavy communication” on Flynn’s phone prior to the shooting.

Actually, what makes the case seem even more shocking is that on American Idol, he spoke about his devotion to his wife and his faith.

In a resurfaced interview from the show, Caleb said:

I absolutely love the Lord. I love my wife more than anything. She is very, very, very pretty… I’m just a normal person who absolutely loves to sing more than anything in the world.

Stunned Community

Well, he’s now “absolutely” in trouble with the law. Naturally, folks feel stunned by the arrest and the true crime charges. After all, in her community, Ashley Flynn, aged just 37, seemed loved by everyone.

A substitute teacher and volleyball coach, she got a lot of praise from the school district. What stood out, was her “beautiful smile” and “positive impact” on everyone she met. Well, presumably, everyone but Caleb.

What Happened In Court?

After his arrest on February 19, Caleb appeared for a video arraignment. Not surprisingly, he pleaded not guilty to all charges. Actually, he became rather emotional and spoke to Judge Samuel Huffman, pleading for a low bond so he could be with his kids.

 Caleb Flynn told the court:

Sir, I just want to take care of my daughters. I’m not a risk.

Not buying his claims of not being a risk, the judge set bond at $2 million.

Different Opinions

Of course, Caleb contracted an attorney, and his name is Patrick Mulligan. According to him, the prosecution rushed “to judgment.”

Meanwhile, Ashley’s family feels differently. They released a statement that noted the arrest was “made carefully and not without serious consideration.”

The next time that Caleb appears in court comes on February 26. That’s for a preliminary hearing.

Viewers React

In the comments section of the report on YouTube, plenty of people had something to say.

One of them opined, “Just an idea: go to your lawyer’s office, file for divorce, rent an apartment, schedule visitation rights with your children and get on with life. Pretty simple.”

Here are a few more responses from the discussion:

  • Why do people think murder is easier than divorce?
  • I’m glad the judge ordered high bond and no contact with his children.
  • “I just wanna take care of my daughters.” They needed their mother too and you robbed them of her forever. what a total POS.
