Memphis Garrett from Big Brother Seasons 10 and 22 recently found himself in legal hot water in Florida. The news surfaced after his personal life took a downturn with him splitting from Christmas Abbott. Read on for more details.
TV Star Arrested In Florida
According to TMZ, Garrett, whose real name is Robert Garrett, was apprehended by the “Broward Sheriff’s Office” on Thursday. The arrest came after a warrant was issued by the Florida Department of Revenue. The charges against the former reality star involve allegations of failing to remit sales tax collected through his business ventures.

The outlet cited documents that suggest Memphis Garrett is facing a second-degree felony charge for the alleged theft of state funds. Authorities accuse him of “collecting $55,366.77” in sales taxes between “November 2022 and October 2024” through his LLC, “Poke House Lauderdale.” He also trades as The Poke House and No Man’s Land Miami.
Still Behind Bars
Held on a bond of $15,000, as of May 17, it hadn’t been paid, so he remained behind bars. Basically, by not paying in the sales tax, he is accused of stealing the money from the state of Florida. It seems quite serious. And if proven guilty, he could end up imprisoned.
By now, most reality TV fans know that Todd Chrisley from Chrisley Knows Best is behind bars for tax-related offenses in Atlanta, Georgia. He was convicted and sentenced to 12 years in Pensacola.
A Difficult Time In His Personal Life
Memphis Garrett and Christmas Abbott met and married after they appeared on the CBS show. However, there were allegations and a restraining order for domestic violence, and the couple filed for divorce after the split in 2024.
The outlet reached out for comment but hasn’t heard back. However, Garrett’s legal team might be getting their ducks in a row right now.
Fans React
On Reddit, an OP shared a story that claimed the reality TV alum owed $100,000, however, the amount of $55,366.77 seems to be the actual figure. Either way, fans are unhappy, and they don’t like him much.. Here are some reactions to the arrest:
- Memphis was super racist on his last season of Big Brother and he had a DV case against him from his ex.
- he was awful on All-Stars. He was fine in his original season.
- This checks out.
- Good. F–k him and his loser big brother bestie Dan Ghessling.
- Mephis is known in the area to not pay his employees. Dan invested in his restaurants…but also any chance I can trash him I will. Dan…treats his employees like trash and underpays them. (A friend worked for him for several years…can’t wait for the NDA to expire).
