Prince William’s Plans For The Monarchy Likely To Make Prince Harry Proud

Prince William is all for bringing a new twist to the Monarchy if it means it gets to magnify the institution’s impact in the modern world.

One of the ways he plans to do this is to prioritize projects over patronages, and we’ve seen some of the impact of this new push.

Earthshot Prize for example, and then there’s his Homewards organization, dedicated to seeing that there are no more homeless people in the UK.

As far as legacy is concerned, Prince William is assured of leaving a great one, because his work so far has already garnered so much praise from people, and he’s only just getting started.

Prince William Shares His Plans To Present the World With An Empathy-driven Leadership

As the heir to the British throne, Prince William is all for modernizing the Monarchy in a way that properly benefits the modern world. One of the ways he plans to achieve this is by exemplifying the importance of empathetic leadership.

Prior to his visit to South Africa in 2024, the Prince told journalists, “I can only describe what I’m trying to do, and that’s I’m trying to do it differently and I’m trying to do it for my generation… to give you more understanding around it, I’m doing it with maybe a smaller R in the royal, if you like, that’s maybe a better way of saying it.”

After explaining that the pomp and pageantry that come with the institution do not necessarily align with his values, he stressed, “I’m going to throw empathy in there… And I think we could do with some more empathetic leadership around the world.”

William explained that the future he’s setting for himself within the institution is one that will see more impact in areas like “philanthropy, collaboration, convening, and helping people.”

He’s also put a lot of thinking into what he wants to achieve within the Monarchy, and cutting ribbons just isn’t cutting it. In this way, he plans to prioritize projects over patronages.

This mindset is one that will likely favor his younger brother, Prince Harry, who is also calling for more empathy in the world.

On May 6, per the Mirror, Harry made an appearance at The Diana Award and said, “From a younger generation standpoint, in an apathetic world, there’s more empathy in this generation than I’ve ever seen before…It’s the empathy, the authenticity, the truth, the honesty, and the fearlessness…”

So even though the rift continues to hold them at arms length, the brothers are perhaps united in their vision for the future.
