Imagine an interview where you’re low-key attacking your family and yet somewhere along the line, you remember to throw in that you’re still open to reconciliation. If you can imagine this, Prince Harry’s lived this.
Royal Expert Reacts To Prince Harry’s Reconciliation Comment
Many are calling Harry a hypocrite for jumping on a BBC interview directly after the court rejected his security appeal.
Not exactly because he aired out his grievances, but because he also tried to prove he was the bigger person by saying that he’s open to reconciliation with his family. It makes one wonder how one person can knock you down and still offer to make peace with the same breath.
This didn’t sit right with several royal experts, most especially Christopher Andersen, who blasted the Prince’s “odd” way of extending his desire for reconciliation.
“If Harry really wants to reconcile with his family, he has an odd way of showing it,” Andersen told US Weekly.
“He slams his father for interfering in the trial, then says the Palace rigged the outcome, then accuses the Royal Family of not caring about the safety of his wife and children, and winds up declaring that for now he can’t foresee any scenario in which he would take his family to the U.K.,” Andersen continued. “Harry delivered the coup de grace when he said he wanted to bury the hatchet with his father because he doesn’t know how much time the King has left to live.”
Andersen added, “If you are someone undergoing cancer treatment, to hear those words from your son would, I think, be fairly upsetting. Not exactly a resounding vote of confidence in your chances of making a full recovery.”
Well, according to Andersen, even though the King refuses to dial back on his public engagements, his focus is on recovery, and not on any reconciliation, no matter how well or poorly it is presented.
King Charles Has No Reason To Reach Out To Prince Harry Now
During his BBC interview, Harry admitted that his father had stopped picking his calls. Per Andersen’s insights, if the King didn’t see a reason to talk to his son in years, the BBC interview is not going to be the thing that changes that.
“If Charles had any inclination to reach out to Harry — and I haven’t seen any movement in that direction over the past two years — then he certainly has no reason to reach out now,” he added. “I hate to say it, but I seriously doubt that the relationship between the King and Prince Harry will ever be resolved. There is just too much bitterness there, too many burned bridges.”
