If you think Prince Harry is going to let the UK breathe for one second whilst his security bid goes unanswered, you’re way off base.
Shortly after news surfaced that a stalker came very close to his person in the UK, it is now revealed that he had written an impassioned letter to Shabana Mahmood requesting risk evaluation.
Prince Harry Revisits His Security Case In Letter To Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood
Prince Harry may have lost his security bid through the court system, but he has turned to the next best thing: the government.
According to a government source, Harry wrote a letter to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, as well as to the predecessor Yvette Cooper.
In the letter, Harry asked for RAVEC to “abide by its own rules,” which involves a risk assessment being performed for the members of the Royal Family and VIPs each year.
Mind you, the Duke, 41, is not completely devoid of security. What he’s after is the 24/7 taxpayer funded police protection that he previously enjoyed as a working royal.
The security apparently means a lot to him, because shortly after the court ruled in favor of RAVEC, he told us that he “can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK.”
Previously, he’d revealed that the reason he is determined to win back his security is to be able to safely bring his children back to the UK.
“The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they live at the moment in the US.
That cannot happen if it’s not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil,” he told the High Court in an emotional statement in 2023.
This might explain why he’s still hellbent on getting his security reinstated. According to the government source, Harry wrote “to the new Home Secretary asking for a risk management board to be conducted.”
Regardless, Harry is said to be fully aware that his case might “not be top of the incoming secretary’s in-tray.”
In response to this, a government spokesperson told the Times: “The UK government’s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate.
It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security.”
