Prince Harry & Meghan’s PR Push Faces Palace Resistance

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue bringing speculation about their future with the Royal Family. The latest reports suggest Harry might want to play a part-time role in royal duties, yet the palace response and Prince William’s stance allegedly cause deepening tension.

PR Managers Have Difficulty

On Monday night, royal commentator Neil Sean spoke about the Sussex couple on his Daily News Headlines vlog on YouTube. According to Sean, Meredith Maine, the couple’s new communications officer, faces a difficult task making Harry and Meghan “palatable to the rest of the world.”

He cited his own experiences about working with celebrities. Notably, he admitted that it’s never easy. He explained, “They say the wrong things literally to the world and then look at you when all the negative press becomes a bit of an onslaught and then it’s your fault.”

Sean suggested that Maine celebrated a short-lived victory after staging a “super secret meeting” that grabbed headlines. However, he believes the palace quickly countered the narrative.

Mixed Signals About Harry’s Role

Over the past few weeks, media outlets talked about how Prince Harry might be “on his way back” into the royal fold. Additionally, speculation linked his charity appearances in the UK to a possible strategy of reintegration.

However, Sean pointed to headlines from official palace communications that allegedly rejected the idea. He said that the royal family seems to make it “very very clear that Prince Harry will never be asked back to undertake royal duties, deputize or indeed be well needed for anything.”

William’s Position Strengthens

Sean emphasized that Prince William, in particular, isn’t interested in accommodating his brother. He argued that while Princess Anne once said the monarchy could be “slimmed down too much,” William “wouldn’t care.” In Sean’s view, William, the future monarch, stands firm, leaving Harry’s PR team scrambling.

As for Meghan Markle, Sean dismissed claims “King Charles III is reportedly planning a Zoom call with his estranged daughter-in-law Meghan Markle and his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet” per Radar Online. In fact, Sean questioned whether the King would ever agree to a “Zoom chat with a cable TV actress that he now barely knows.”

Meanwhile, he also dissed the reports that claimed Prince Harry’s visit with the King was tearful and heart-melting. Instead, he likened the reports to “Mills and Boon” fiction, and said the story was pushed by Meghan’s camp to present a softer image.

Palace Pushback & Reactions

According to Sean, pushback by the palace changes things. He explained that Meredith Maine, once hopeful about her new role, now faces challenges as “literally the palace finally are fighting back.” In his opinion, the battle over Harry and Meghan’s royal relevance is far from over, but “times are changing.” Furthermore, things don’t seem to be going their way.

In the comments section of the vlog, royal family fans, as usual, were very vocal with their own opinions. One of them opined, “I love Prince William for standing by his guns. Go William. I hate the Sussex’s lies.”

Here are a few more responses in the discussion:

  • Harry, Meghan, Andrew, and Sarah need to be publicly and permanently banished from the monarchy, as they are a national and international embarrassment, with one scandal after another.
  • I hope that Meredith woman gets absolutely what she deserves. Nothing wrong with trying to make lemonade out of lemons. But lying and trying to break up a family shouldn’t be rewarded.
  • I’m so happy to see the Palace responding! Past time to shut down these lies.
