This year has seen the Sussex team scale through many ups and downs, losing staff along the way and diverting their funds and strategy to better cope with a downsized team.
But who could have expected that this downsizing could extend to the Christmas holidays, of all times? According to new reports, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have unexpectedly let go of several staff members. Here’s all we know about the situation.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Charity Foundation Undergo A Rebrand, Whilst Losing Staffers
Earlier, we learnt that in honor of the fifth anniversary of Archewell Foundation, the Duke and Duchess’ charity foundation will undergo a complete rebrand to become…wait for it… Archewell Philanthropies.
This change is coming after what has been deemed a tough financial year for the charity organization.
According to the Daily Mail, the charity took in a total of $2.1 million, whereas total expenses came out at around $5.1 million this fiscal year. One of the people who were let go, Kristin Slevin, the charity’s director of programs and operations, reportedly took in a salary of $146,000.
A spokesperson for Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41, seemed to shed more light on this, saying that the same full team remains in place.
“Currently, the same full team remains in place. This move does mean that some staff redundancies are inevitable, particularly with junior admin roles,” the rep said.
“We will not be discussing these personnel details further, other than to say that we are honoured to have worked with incredibly talented and caring people who dedicate themselves to helping others.”
Prior to this statement, it was reported that Harry and Meghan have let go of Kyle Boulia and Charlie Gipson, following tanked donations.
This is especially in stark contrast to Archewell’s first fiscal year, where donations exceeded $13 million, with expenses totalling $3,987,070.
Archewell was launched in 2020, shortly after the ‘Spare’ author and the former American actress moved to America. The charity’s focus cuts through issues relating to online safety, women’s causes and problems affecting whole communities.
