Phil Robertson, the Duck Dynasty patriarch, passed away at 79, just days before the Duck Dynasty: The Revival premiere on June 1. His family announced the news on social media.

The TV Star Passed Away Still Loving God

From 2012, Phil from Louisiana brought many scenes of his duck call business, his family, and the outdoors to television. Although The Revival comes soon, Phil wasn’t going to appear in the newly revised edition of the show. Late last year, news arrived that the older man had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

When the family issued a statement on Instagram about Phil’s passing, it was immediately shared across social media. Korie and Willie Robertson jointly shared the news. Within three hours, nearly 200K likes arrived, and plenty of people commented. In part, the announcement said:

We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. He reminded us often of the words of Paul, ‘you do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.’

After citing the Bible book of Corinthians, it continued by saying that the cast of the show appreciated the “love and prayers” from those who had been touched by their dad. The message concluded with the caption that said, “We’re having a private service for now, but we’ll share details soon about a public celebration of his life.”

The Patriarch Had Been Unwell

Many A&E fans already knew that Phil Pobertson was unwell, as his son, Jase, mentioned his deterioration on the family podcast. He said, “Doctors are sure that he has some sort of blood disease that’s causing all kinds of problems, and he’s had this for a few years. It’s just gotten a lot worse; it’s like it accelerated, and it’s causing problems with his entire body.”

“Combined with Alzheimer’s,” he continued,“if you put those things together, he’s just not doing well. He’s really struggling.” Still, Phil Robertson was optimistic that he would become strong enough to reappear on the podcast one day.
