On May 19, the Shabooty account on Instagram shared that Ben passed away from cancer. The admin said, “Ben Rathbun has passed away from cancer today, according to my sources. RIP to Ben, and I know this is a difficult time for his family and for Mahogany (who was still with him through these 💔ing times). Sending love and prayers. 🙏 🙏🙏.”

Many TLC fans reacted with respect. One said, “OMG How sad.
