General Hospital Spoilers exclaim a wild fan theory is taking social media by storm this week as diehard GH lovers start to wonder if the person who shot Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) was the very last person we would have expected to have done it, Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson).
Hear me out. Yes, she was his mother. But she banished him from the Quartermaine kingdom just as soon as she found out how he betrayed the family by sleeping with his nephew’s wife.
Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) had a beautiful family that Drew preyed upon until he lured Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) away from her husband and children.
Monica was tired of seeing Drew get the last laugh and maybe she wanted to teach him a lesson. Could she have crawled out of bed and made this happen with Yuri’s (Cyrus Hobbi) help? What do you think?
A Last Wish
Monica may have known she was on her last leg. To be frank, we all knew it. The family was taking things day by day and lying to themselves hoping it would never come true, but they knew Monica wasn’t recovering.
Still, she’s the last person they thought they had to keep an eye on in terms of the Quartermaine grounds.
Did she sneak out that night when everyone else was preoccupied with their lives? Was she certain her time was coming to an end and she thought she’d put everyone out of their misery by taking Drew with her?
Brook Lynn Went Looking for Clues
Just before the PCPD arrived at the Quartermaine mansion, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliott) ordered Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) to go check Monica’s room for evidence of the letters Veronica ‘Ronnie’ Bard (Erika Slezak) spoke of being exchanged between them.
Is it possible that Brook Lynn found evidence of something entirely different while rooting through Monica’s things?
Could that gun have been stashed in Monica’s belongings tucked amongst the letters from her long-lost sister Ronnie? Something tells me if that’s the case, we won’t find out for a while — perhaps only in revealing flashbacks.
Greener Pastures
Of course, some fans will lament that Monica absolutely cannot go out that way. If she tried to kill her own child, it may taint her wonderful legacy, right? We think not. Monica knew what her family was about and she committed plenty of sins in her lifetime.
We may not choose to dwell on those today, but a torrid love affair with her nephew, Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth), and another with Dr. Pierce Dorman (Tuc Watkins), left an imprint of a woman who came a long way to get to where she was allowed to be the judge and jury of others in her family.
She made her judgment about Drew, and it’s quite possible she thought she could apply his sentence, too. What do you think? Could Monica have been the shooter?
