EastEnders spoilers and updates for the week of June 23 tease Elaine Knight’s (Harriet Thorpe) bad behavior, Joel Marshall (Max Murray) puts the teens in danger, and there are new fears for The Six! Plus, Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) celebrates a significant birthday, Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) worries, and Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) loses control!
Elaine’s Bad Behavior
Elaine continues to act selfishly after her breakup with George Knight (Colin Salmon), and another error on her part creates a risky situation for the teens and younger kids.
Elaine disregards an overwhelmed Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and decides to throw a party for Patrick’s birthday.
However, Elaine later abandons Linda to manage things at The Queen Vic alone. When George steps in to assist, Elaine becomes angry and reacts harshly, ruining any chance for a reconciliation.
Later, George informs Elaine that his new lawyer claims he has rights to the pub- Elaine goes all out for Patrick’s celebration. But while Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) hosts his own party at home and distracts the little ones with a movie, Joel attempts to sneak in with alcohol.
Teens In Danger
When Joel and Denzel visit The Vic, Elaine gives them each a glass of punch-however, Elaine doesn’t realize that the boys are stealing jugs of punch to take home.
A conflict brews between Linda and Elaine, while Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) tries to comfort Linda- Elaine’s confronted by Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and Kat for serving the teens in the first place.
Meanwhile, Joel decides to crash Denzel’s party because he wants to get closer to Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd), but he gets frustrated when he can’t talk to her.
As Joel gets closer to Denzel, trouble arises-they discover some younger kids have drunk the punch, but will they be okay? As Joel’s influence grows in the Square, how much more trouble can he cause?
New Fears For The Six!
In another place, The Six are anxious about their hidden truth – which hinges on Bernadette Taylor (Clair Norris), who might have her own secret. Félix Baker (Matthew James Morrison) wants his step-cousin Bernie to approve of his new partner Johnny.
However, Félix is unaware that Johnny was involved in covering up the murder of Bernie’s brother Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) – and Bernie is fully aware of this, making it unlikely that she’ll be supportive!
Denise is worried that if Johnny fails to win Bernie over, their past will come back to haunt them. Meanwhile, a new mystery arises when Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) reviews the Panesar accounts and spots some unusual invoices.
Vicki Has Questions
When Vicki brings up the matter with Bernie, who has taken over the late Nish’s (Navin Chowdhry) affairs, her worries are brushed aside.
While Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) shows Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) his new vehicle, Vicki raises the suspicious invoices with Bernie yet again, but to no avail.
Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) proposes that she talk to Ravi instead, but he is unaware of the invoices.
Ravi and Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal) take a stand against Bernie regarding the irregularities; the question remains, how will she respond?
Patrick Celebrates A Significant Birthday
This week, Patrick celebrates his 85th birthday, yet he remains available to assist local residents in need, including providing guidance to Jean Slater (Gillian Wright).
Kat attempts to share her feelings with Jean about Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) being unreachable, but Jean won’t forgive her for partnering with Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) and Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman).
Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) requests Jean to keep Patrick occupied while they prepare for his special celebrations.
Consequently, Patrick finds himself advising Jean about her conflict with Kat, encouraging her to reconcile; will Jean heed his advice?
Later, Patrick is thrilled by the preparations for his party, raising the question: with his engagement to Yolande, will this be a joyful event?
Kat Worries
Meanwhile, Kat is worried about Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley). Phil becomes anxious about Nigel when he notices him going out without shoes, and his concerns escalate when he comes home to find the kitchen in disarray.
Things take a dangerous turn when Phil and Nigel struggle over a pot of boiling water, and seeing Phil’s injury, she urges him to be truthful about how serious Nigel’s condition is.
During an intimate conversation, Kat comes to understand that Phil is worn out and overwhelmed. She proposes that Phil requires additional help to care for Nigel, who is dealing with dementia, but Phil declines her suggestion.
Nigel Confuses Lexi With Clare Again
However, when Nigel is with Phil’s granddaughter Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown), he mistakenly believes she is his adopted daughter Clare Bates (Gemma Bissix) once more, which troubles Phil while Nigel finds it hard to deal with.
Jean irritates Kat by asking why she is spending so much time at Phil’s place, but Kat maintains that her concern is purely platonic.
Phil attempts to handle the repercussions of Nigel’s talk with Lexi, and Kat insists that he needs to seek help.
Denise Fox (Diane Parish) also encourages Phil to take care of himself in addition to Nigel, but will he pursue additional support?
Nicola Loses Control
Nicola and Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) are worried to learn that Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) did not pass his chemistry exam because of stress. To lift Barney’s spirits, Nicola chooses to bring back a family tradition of celebrating ‘Half Christmas.’
However, Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) is critical, and things take a turn when Harry invites Zack Hudson (James Farrar), falsely claiming that Barney wants him there.
Nicola goes all out with decorations, but Teddy confronts her with harsh truths, leading her to wreck the room just as Barney and Harry return home.
Nicola cleans up her mess and greets her guests, but there’s a surprise when Zack shows up, and Harry is thrilled as Nicola loses it again and kicks Zack out!
Teddy Runs After Barney And They Share A Close Conversation
In the meantime, Teddy runs after Barney, and they engage in a meaningful discussion, where Teddy promises to back Barney if he decides to reach out to Zack. Will Barney opt to forge a relationship with Zack, now knowing he’s his real birth father?
Later on, Nicola and Barney enjoy lunch at Walford East, but a run-in with Zack creates additional complications.
Later, at Harry’s Barn, Nicola and George bond over their recent break-ups. Is this heading in a particular direction?
