Perhaps she didn’t tell Alex the truth about Jeremy’s abuse because she feared Jeremy would come after her, or even Alex or someone else in her family.

She has feared what she wrote under a pseudonym in her book “One Stormy Night” would come out, and now Jeremy has shown up at her door.

He’s back in Salem, and after touching base with Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) who’s obviously oblivious to his criminal past, he has gone to seek out his old girlfriend.

Stephanie claims the parts in her book she’s afraid he’d recognize were intimate things, like sex scenes described in the book.

But considering her terrifying fear of her former lover, there has to be much more she’s afraid he’ll recognize were written about him and his actions.

Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) did a deep dive investigation into Jeremy back in the day, and found out he had a criminal past-Stephanie alluded to that in her conversation with Alex.

She claimed embarrassment that she, the daughter of a cop and ISA agent, couldn’t pick up on the criminal in Jeremy; his history was filled with drug dealing and worse.

And it became worse during the time that she, as a young and inexperienced girl was dating Jeremy; he lost his temper and tried to drown her in a hot tub! It was revealed he’d committed fraud, stolen cars, and also worked as a smuggler in the past when he was younger.

Jeremy ran to evade justice, but now he is back and a teacher, having claimed before he left he wanted to straighten himself and his life out.

The  charges he ran from must be beyond the statute of limitations now, he left Salem in October 2007-he’s just a substitute, but he’ll be teaching Thomas DiMera’s (Cary Christopher) class.

When Stephanie hears that she is bound to be worried for Thomas, and likely will want to warn Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn).

But what is in her book that she’s worried Jeremy will recognize and come after her or her friends and family for?

Is it really that he did worse crimes that she had been too afraid over and stayed silent-maybe even murder?
