Comedian Mocks Prince Harry’s American Accent and Budget Shopping in Hilarious New Skit

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, recently appeared on Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know—the comedian’s popular podcast that dives into humor, culture, and personal stories.

In the candid and often hilarious conversation, Harry spoke about adjusting to life in the U.S., the challenges of men’s mental health, and his evolving perspective on social media.

The episode showcased the Duke’s more relaxed and witty side. At one point, Minhaj joked about Harry’s British roots, to which the prince laughed and said the “most American” thing he does now is surf. “You know what, it was hard, it was really hard,” Harry teased when Minhaj brought up his past shopping habits. “TK Maxx is now a special place in my memory.”

“It Was Hard”: Harry on Shopping at TK Maxx

While reading from Spare, Minhaj reminded Harry of a moment when he revealed his “official clothing allowance” from his father only covered formal wear—leaving him to hunt for bargains at TK Maxx for casual clothes. The Duke had written that he often browsed the retailer’s end-of-year sale for Gap or J.Crew items that were “out of season or slightly damaged.”

“Bro, I’m sorry you had to go through that,” Minhaj quipped, prompting Harry to burst into laughter. The prince’s self-deprecating humor continued as he joked about his “chicken legs” and his reluctance to wear shorts, even though surfing has become one of his favorite American pastimes.

In another playful moment, Harry attempted an American accent and even threw in a few “yeehaws,” showing a side of himself rarely seen in royal interviews.

A Serious Turn: Social Media and Mental Health

The conversation soon shifted from lighthearted laughs to heavier topics—particularly the dangers of social media. Harry didn’t hold back. “Social media is taking young men and young boys into very dark places, which should concern all of us,” he said, emphasizing that he and Meghan have spoken extensively about the issue.

According to the Duke, their move to the United States allowed them to focus on causes that truly aligned with their values. “When we made the move to America, we could focus on the things that are really obviously aligned to our passions and causes, and the tech industry was not one of those things,” he explained. “But what we were in search of was what is the root cause of so much suffering and pain around the world… and it was the tech industry and social media.”

He added that he and Meghan have both “had our fair share of beatings on social media” but are determined to create awareness for families. “Because of what we know, now we will be way more cautious and hesitant of allowing our kids to have access to social media,” he said. “The more parents that know what is happening, the more parents can protect their kids.”

Harry also pointed out the need for accountability from larger systems: “People look to governments to protect them, yet we have this lawlessness within this particular industry.”

The Sussexes’ Digital Boundaries

Harry and Meghan’s protective stance toward their children, Archie and Lilibet, is well-known. The couple have consistently avoided showing their kids’ faces online. Though Meghan recently shared a short video of Lilibet running through the garden, viewers only saw the back of her head as Meghan encouraged her, saying, “Go get ’em girl!”

The last time the public caught a clear glimpse of Lilibet’s face was back in 2022, when her official birthday portrait was released.

Humanitarians of the Year

Beyond podcasts and family life, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue to gain recognition for their philanthropic efforts.

The couple recently traveled to New York City, where they were honored as Project Healthy Minds’ Humanitarians of the Year at a star-studded ceremony celebrating their contributions to global mental health advocacy.

The award acknowledged their ongoing mission to build a safer digital world for young people and families. Appearing arm-in-arm, Harry and Meghan were praised for their “extensive global mental health work” during the World Mental Health Day Gala at Spring Studios.

Speaking onstage, Meghan reflected on their journey and their hopes for their children’s generation, underscoring the same concern that drives much of their advocacy—protecting young minds from the darker corners of the online world.
