Chris Pratt may be dragged into Katy Perry’s ongoing $6 million legal fight with 85-year-old veteran Carl Westcott. The Guardians of the Galaxy actor and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, currently rent the $15 million Montecito mansion at the center of a big row.
The Veteran Is In Hospice
Westcott, a Huntington’s disease sufferer, lives under the care of Hospice. He used to own the luxury home. Back in 2020, he sold it to Katy, and he dealt with her business manager, Bernie Gudvi. However, a month later, the elderly entrepreneur changed his mind, claiming he was heavily medicated and mentally unfit when he agreed to the deal.

Westcott, an army veteran who won the Horatio Alger US award, insisted that he just wanted to live out his final days in his old home, but the courts landed firmly on Katy Perry’s side. In May last year, she was granted official ownership.
Then, the former American Idol judge sued the sick veteran for $6 million in damages over alleged deferred maintenance, water damage, and rental losses. This is where Chris Pratt comes in because Perry subsequently rented it to him.
Throwing Doubt On Perry’s Claims
Chris Pratt’s involvement could raise a fresh perspective on Perry’s claims. According to The U.S. Sun, court documents filed in August suggest that Westcott’s lawyers want Pratt subpoenaed. Their reasoning seems to be that if Katy Perry can rent the house to Chris Pratt, then that negates her claim that it’s “uninhabitable.” Obviously, if an “A-lister” can live in it, then it must be habitable.
The filings allege that the singer exaggerated repair costs and deferred maintenance to inflate the damage claim. “Either Perry made extensive repairs after the discovery deadline,” they argue, “or she rented the house as-is, which undermines her case.”
Westcott’s legal team wants a re-inspection of the property and short depositions from Perry, her manager Gudvi, and Orlando Bloom. Now, that seems to include Chris Pratt as well. For starters, the legal eagles want to know how much Pratt pays to rent the place. Additionally, they want his confirmation on the state of the home when he moved in.
The Pop Star Was Roasted
Last year, when the lawsuit details emerged, Katy Perry was literally roasted on social media. We reported that her decision to chase after a man with irreversible illness got a lot of folks hot under the collar.
At the time, we cited Westcott’s son as saying that the singer lacked “empathy” and called her actions “unforgivable.”
Now that Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger live on the property, the case might swing in favor of the veteran. The judge reportedly ordered that Perry must testify, and Westcott’s lawyers want the same from Pratt to support their argument.
While Perry paid $9 million of the $15 million sale price, the additional $6 million lawsuit left many people questioning whether the legal battle was about damages or celebrity bullying.
