CBS got lethal with cutting some favorite shows, but there are some renewals and even some new spinoffs coming. Read on to find out more about them.
The Cancellations Are Upsetting
People grow up watching their favorite series and shows, so cancellations are nearly always met with disapproval. However, amid six cancellations, there is at least some hope for TV addicts. The shocker was the cancellation of FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International, and S.W.A.T. from Universal TV studios.
Others reported were Blue Bloods, Poppa’s House, and The Summit. Probably nobody will miss The Summit too much as it only ran for one season. However, Variety noted that there were some popular renewals.
Renewals & Spinoffs
The greenlit shows on CBS for the 2025-2026 season include:
- NCIS,
- NCIS: Origins,
- NCIS: Sydney,
- Tracker,
- George & Mandie’s First Marriage,
- Hollywood Squares,
- Elsabeth,
- Fire Country, and
- Ghosts.
Two new spinoffs arrive, and one of them stars Donnie Wahlberg.

That is the new Boston Blue. Blue Bloods is gone, but in the new show, Donnie will still remain as a police officer (Danny Reagan). Only he will be based out of Boston alongside Lena Peters, who is reportedly from a long lineage of professional crime fighters in the city, per CBS. However, the rest of the cast and where the show was filmed still seems a bit mysterious.
The Second Spinoff
The new spinoff arises from Fire Country and the spinoff is titled as Sheriff Country. As Fire country survived the ax, it means a bonus for fans of the shows. In Sheriff Country, Morena Baccarin acts as Sheriff Mickey Fox. You will probably recall Sharon Leone (Diane Farr) from Fire Country.

Well, it turns out that Sheriff Mickey Fox is a step-sister to Sharon. In the upcoming show, Mickey will be the central figure as she delves into criminal investigations and maintains order on the streets of Edgewater, a close-knit community. Her challenges will extend beyond her professional duties, as she navigates a relationship with her dad who has a criminal past, and grapples with her troubled daughter.
Fans already met Mickey Fox in the original show, opening the way for the new spinoff.
Fans Are A Bit Unhappy
When the news arrived that Christopher Gorham and Michele Weaver would join the Sheriff Country spinoff, there were some grumbles on Reddit.

I think Dick Wolf is to blame for these bad derivative titles. First, he made a dozen different law and orders, then he made all these Chicago shows, and his FBI literally called its CIA spinoff FBI: CIA, though they finally realized that was just dumb.
Maybe whoever created the CSI shows deserves some scorn, too. They did the same with them, too, up to CSI: Cyber… and the NCIS creators.
So, fire and now Sheriff Country. What’s the next country? Medical Examiner Country? EMT Country? Prosecutor Country? How about Country Country set in Nashville about fire fighting sheriffs who record country music?
