CBS To Air Lawmen: Bass Reeves Following Yellowstone Success

Recently, due to the WGA Writers’ and SAG-AFTRA actors’ strikes, CBS aired Yellowstone season 1, which turned out to be highly successful with its viewers.
In the wake of season 1 of the modern Western series, CBS has now announced that the first two episodes of Lawmen: Bass Reeves will also air on the network. Those episodes are set to air on November 12 at 9 pm ET/PT.
CBS to air Lawmen: Bass Reeves in wake of Yellowstone success
Viewers on CBS who are not with Paramount are finally getting the chance to watch the Taylor Sheridan hit, Yellowstone. As noted by Deadline, the series is a massive hit on the network, leading to CBS making more plans. It has been announced that, following an episode of Yellowstone, the first two episodes of Lawmen: Bass Reeves will also air on November 12 at 9 pm ET/PT.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves aired on November 5 on Paramount+. Now, the remaining six episodes of the spinoff will be released weekly with new episodes dropping each Sunday, exclusively on the CBS streamer.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves stars and is executive-produced by David Oyelowo. The first installment of the new anthology series tells the story of legendary lawman Reeves and his rise from enslavement to law enforcement. Reeves was one of the first Black US Deputy Marshals west of the Mississippi. The official description for the series reads as follows:
Despite arresting over 3,000 outlaws during the course of his career, the weight of the badge was heavy, and he wrestled with its moral and spiritual cost to his beloved family.
Who else stars in the Yellowstone spinoff?
Besides Oyelowo, other cast famously include Donald Sutherland, Dennis Quaid, Lauren E. Banks, Forrest Goodluck, Demi Singleton, Barry Pepper and Grantham Coleman. Meanwhile, guest stars in the show include Garrett Hedlund. Shea Whigham, Joaquina Kalukango, Tosin Morohunfola, Lonnie Chavis, Dale Dicky, Ryan O’Nan, Rob Morgan, Margot Bingham, Justin Hurtt-Dunkley, Bill Dawes and Yellowstone star, Mo Brings Plenty.
In October, CBS extended its run of Yellowstone with season 2 which premiered on October 29, after the season 1 finale.
Nielsen reports that since Yellowstone season 1 first dropped on CBS on September 17, it has averaged an audience of 5.49 million viewers per episode. As noted by Variety in September, the debut episode drew 6.6 million viewers to CBS.
As for Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Chad Feehan acts as showrunner and executive producer, along with Taylor Sheridan, Oyelowo, Jessica Oyelowo, David C. Glasser, Christina Alexander Voros, David Permut, David Hutkin and Bob Yari. Meanwhile, the series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions and Oyelowo’s Yoruba Saxon.
As a reminder, the first two episodes of Lawmen: Bass Reeves will air following an episode of Yellowstone on November 12 at 9 pm ET/PT on CBS.
