Meghan Markle Calls Prince Harry “Hands-On Dad” At SXSW

Meghan Markle took part in a panel on Friday, March 8 that included actress Brooke Shields and US presenter Katie Couric.

During her speech, she touched on mitigating the dangers of the online world and praised her husband for his “hands-on” approach to parenting. Proud Prince Harry watched from the front row and beamed watching his wife’s speech.

Meghan Markle Wants To Provide Opportunities For Disadvantaged Women

Lauded as a “force for positive change,” Meghan Markle appeared on SXSW conference and revealed that she’s directing much of her energies to giving opportunities to disadvantaged women.
While she embarks on this activism journey, she’s proud that she’s got a partner who supports her in working towards the causes that are close to her heart.

She said: “My husband is such a hands-on dad and such a supporter of me and our family. In don’t take that for granted. That is a real blessing. A lot of people don’t have that same level of support.”

Soho House boss Markus Anderson, who is often praised as the “second most important man in Meghan’s life,” attended the event.

Prior to the conference, Harry and Meghan enjoyed a date night at the exclusive Soho House in Austin on Thursday. The hotel chain holds a special place in the couple’s heart, as the London branch was where they went on their first date in July 2016.

In a wide ranging discussion, Meghan talked about “success” for minority women from disadvantaged backgrounds, the “disturbing” social media trolling of women, and conspiracy theories.

Meghan explained: “I cannot make sense of that. If you’re reading something terrible, terrible about a woman, why are you sharing it with your friends? Why are you choosing to put that out in the world? What if it was your friend, your mum, your daughter?”

She then called for people, particularly women in executive places, to stop allowing these behaviors to continue. “And at a certain point, they have got to put the do’s behind the say’s, and really make some changes on a systemic level.”

As a former actress herself, Meghan also lashed out at the movie industry for what she saw as “pigeon-holing” women to specific roles.
