GH Spoilers: Will A Better Nikolas Return When Laura Brings Him Home?

General Hospital (GH) turned Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) into a very dark character. By the time Ava Jerome (Maura West) knocked him over the head, he was unrecognizable.

Sooner or later (we hope sooner) Nikolas will return to Port Charles, hopefully after his mom Laura Collins (Genie Francis) finds him in Chechnya. First, we must get through the mystery of who took him and why, and a rescue of some kind.

A kinder Nikolas may emerge when he returns to GH. It’s time for a reset and see remnants of the “old” Nikolas.

General Hospital Spoilers – What Happened To Nikolas Cassadine?

Nikolas returned from the dead in 2019 after three years. He had changed. Not just the actor, but the character was different. This Nikolas was out for revenge against Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and was plotting during the time his family and friends thought he was dead.

Even when he came back, he hid from everyone. While hiding, he tortured Ava Jerome (Maura West) when he pretended to be her dead daughter Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin).

Once Nikolas showed himself, it took a long time for those he loved to forgive him. His son Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) never really did.

Nikolas and Ava eventually fell in love and he seemed to be a happier and better person for a while. Until he slept with his son’s girlfriend, Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl). Things fell apart for Nikolas after that. He wound up holding a pregnant Esme hostage.

The last thing he did was to threaten to take away Ava’s daughter Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scalora). That was when she hit him.

GH Spoilers – Nikolas Cassadine In The Old Days

Nikolas was never an angel. He did some pretty bad stuff before he faked his death. The Cassadine prince slept with his brother’s wife Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) and arranged for her half-sister Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) to be murdered.

But there was another side of Nikolas Cassadine. The one who loved Emily Quartermaine (Natalia Livingston) and would do anything for her. He also adored his son, his mom, and his half-sister Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan). He originally came to Port Charles to save Lulu’s life.

Nikolas had a strong bond with his half-brother Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) and was once a great friend to Elizabeth.

The younger Nikolas would not have gone off the deep end as he did.

General Hospital Spoilers – Which Nikolas Cassadine Will Return To General Hospital?

General Hospital characters are often redeemable. Who would have ever thought that Valentin, the man who shot Nikolas, would accompany Laura to Chechnya to rescue the same man?

A fresh new Nikolas may return home to his family. Some may be able to forgive him, and some will not. His relationship with Ava is probably gone for good but hopefully, he can repair things with Spencer.

The question is, who will be playing Nikolas Cassadine?
