Frasier Reboot Teaser Reveals Return Of Bebe Neuwirth’s Lilith

Since talk first started about the Paramount+ reboot of Frasier, fans have wondered who in the Cheers/Frasier universe will star. Now, we are happy to hear that Frasier’s ex-wife, Lilith is coming to the show. It has been a while since fans have seen Bebe Neuwirth in the fan-favorite role and, with their unique dynamic; it just has to be funny.

Paramount+ Frasier reboot to star Bebe Neuwirth as Lilith

Late on Wednesday, Paramount+ shared a clip from the upcoming reboot of Frasier on its Twitter and Instagram accounts. There is no doubt anyone who has seen it is thrilled that Lilith Sternin is coming to the rebooted sitcom.

Fans of the original comedy, Cheers, will recall Bebe Neuwirth in the fan-favorite role as Frasier’s wife, Lilith. We met them first in the popular Boston pub where after dating Diane, he eventually moved on with Lilith. They even got married and had a son, Freddy, but eventually were divorced.

In the clip shared by Paramount+ to Instagram and Twitter, the network gave us a look at the set of the Frasier reboot. Meanwhile, they also shared the news that Lilith is coming back.

Kelsey Grammer can be heard saying, “This is Dr. Frasier Crane, wishing you good day and good mental *scream*” while panning to reveal Lilith’s own trailer. Neuwirth’s voice can then be heard saying, “Surprise!”

As previously reported, the reboot is set in Boston and will see Frasier tying up some loose ends. Apparently, his relationship with his son, Freddy, will be central to the show, just as the previous show centered on Martin Crane (played by the late John Mahoney) and his son. Meanwhile, it does make sense that Lilith would be around.

What is Bebe Neuwirth’s role in the reboot?

Even after Cheers, Frasier and Lilith’s relationship continued to evolve into the original Frasier series. The couple maintained contact because of their shared son, Freddy, and despite their constant bickering, they were supportive of each other.

Of interest to note, the voiceover on the clip was taken from the Frasier episode where Lilith made her first appearance in the spinoff, causing him to freak out on air. Meanwhile, speaking of the reboot, Grammer had teased that the show would feature some surprise guests. However, she wasn’t a major cast member of the Cheers spinoff but was a guest star that appeared every now and then. According to Deadline, she may just be a guest star in the reboot too.

It has now been decades since Neuwirth’s character has been seen with her former husband, so it will be interesting to see how their relationship has continued. With Freddy an adult now, he could be a point of reference relating to his parents’ rocky relationship and how it affected him growing up. Whatever the reason for her appearance in the reboot, we can certainly expect to enjoy the normal bickering between Frasier and Lilith.
