Y&R Spoilers: Eric Braeden On “Brilliant” Storytelling And “Last Regime”

The Young And The Restless: Eric Braeden (Victor Newman)The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers show that Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) is in the middle of one of the most delightfully devious plots to unravel in Genoa City, Wisconsin in quite some time. His onscreen daughter Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) is once again in over her head and has married a major con who is going to break her heart, Ashland Locke (Robert Newman). He is also gunning for Newman Enterprises and daddy dearest will have to step in and save the day.

Braeden spoke about the show and his current storyline to Soap Opera Digest and we have the scintillating deets for you here.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Eric Braeden Tells It Like It Is

According to Daytime Emmy winner Braeden, “What the last regime really wanted, to be frank with you, was to get rid of me and get rid of Melody [Thomas Scott, Nikki], if you want to know the truth.” That is plain heretical to Y&R fans, and the good news is the last regime has gone back to where it came from.

Otherwise, fans would not be enjoying the drama unfolding on screens today, that of a father trying to save his headstrong heir who is also a lovelorn fool.

Y&R spoilers – Victoria Newman Is Foolish In Love

What does Braeden have to say about Victor and his spawn Victoria? “You cannot suddenly ask a father, or a mother, to forget about the very basic paternal instincts or maternal instincts, the parental instincts. You cannot forget about them no matter how successful the offspring has become.”

“On the other hand, you want them to be successful. You want them to be independent. You want them to make strong decisions. So, what is interesting about this storyline is that all these feelings are very mixed, the paternal feelings. The paternal feelings also apply to the offspring’s success in business. It’s very complex; therefore, it’s a brilliant storyline, it really is.”

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Will Victor Newman Prevail?

In case you missed the point, Braeden called the Victor/Victoria/Ashland plot, “one of the best storylines that I’ve had in years.”

Because it’s all very real, meaning, one understands that Victoria would fall for a good-looking guy like that with a lot of money; one would understand how she, being Victor Newman’s daughter, would have certain Machiavellian tendencies, meaning she sees the possibility of a merger between Locke’s company and Newman. She sees all that and at the same time, he’s a good-looking guy with a lot of money and she fell for him.”

He concludes, as all Y&R fans know, that Victor will be the victor! “But the real Machiavellian, of course, is Victor [laughs]! Victor, on one hand, has very paternal, fatherly feelings, wants his daughter to be happy, is happy that she’s out of Billy Boy’s [Jason Thompson] clutches ….” Will this steamy story end in a whodunit, with Ashland the victim—tell us what you think!
