The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Persistent Chelsea Sways Reluctant Billy?

The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates tease that a persistent Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) may sway a reluctant Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). He recently reassured his partner Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) he’s devoted only to her, but a determined Chelsea may be finding a way in.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Emotionally Dependent?

Those close to Chelsea have found her teetering precariously close to the edge, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) even suggesting she needed to re-enter therapy. Even Sally Spectra, (Courtney Hope) who doesn’t know her very well can tell that something is off, and her close friend Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) is worried too. It seems like Chelsea got way too close to Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) and when he died, her world fell apart and her with it.

But it’s difficult to tell whether Chelsea, who has seemed to be romantically involved in her emotions really was, or if she was emotionally dependent. Chelsea may express her involvement or interest in romantic ways such as when she kissed Billy, but she may be emotionally dependent.

Y & R Spoilers – Chelsea Lawson’s Spiraling

It’s plain to see Chelsea is spiraling on The Young and the Restless; in recent conversations she talked about feeling better when she was doing the podcast with Billy that he just cancelled. It wasn’t the podcast itself that she was dependent on emotionally it was being with Billy and doing what they did together on it. He’d offered for her to take over “The Grinning Soul” herself but she declined; it just wasn’t the same when they weren’t together.

She was trying to convince him to stay with it but he made an independent decision to end it and concentrate on his work at Chancellor-Winters; for Lily. Lily made it clear to Billy that she wasn’t happy with him spending any time with Chelsea at all, even as a friend or a co-parent to Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind).

But hearing about and noticing Chelsea’s sadness when he sees her around Genoa City makes Billy feel sorry for her and want to rescue her. This, like the dynamic that went on for so many years between Adam and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) is codependent behavior. Sharon was Adam’s rescuer and Billy is becoming Chelsea’s, and it was probably the same for Rey.

Adam saw Sharon’s rescuing and fixing behavior as love, and Chelsea is seeing Billy’s as the same and probably did Rey’s as well. Billy is swayed by wanting to be Chelsea’s rescuer, and she interprets it as love and thinks she’s making progress with him romantically when it’s not the same thing.
