Jim Bob And Michelle Duggar Selling Land, Are They Going Broke?

Jim Bob And Michelle DuggarJim Bob and Michelle Duggar recently sold five acres of their family compound for $46.4K and it begs the question: Are the former 19 Kids and Counting stars going broke?

According to property records obtained by The Sun, the former reality TV stars sold their neighbors 5.80 acres of one of the family’s 20-acre parcels for $46,400 on January 28. Both parties apparently filed a “property line adjustment” in the days prior to the sale.

Duggar Real Estate is Substantial

The Duggar family’s famed compound is comprised of the family house, a warehouse where Duggar’s daughter-in-law Anna and her seven children are still thought to live, a greenhouse, storage units, a log cabin where son Joseph, his wife Kendra, and their three children reside, and more. Since, as of July 2021, the Duggar patriarch owns a real estate empire worth $6,235,050 in land, homes, and commercial properties, a mere five acres is barely a drop in the bucket.

However, this sale comes in the wake of Son Josh’s trial and conviction for downloading and possessing child pornography and the subsequent cancellation of the family’s reality TV shows 19 Kids and Counting, in May 2019 and Counting On which was canceled in May 2021 it could be that the couple is running out of money or has all their other money tied up.

When ‘Counting On’ Was Canceled The Duggar’s Lost Big

According to The Sun after TLC canceled Counting On the Duggar family lost out on a whopping $850,000 a year in income. According to a source at the time, the family was pulling in $80,000 for each block of filming they did, and though some seasons were longer than others, the family was still bringing in $850,000 a season.

According to the source, Jim Bob was the recipient of all the cash, some of which he invested, and the rest he handed out. Apparently, there were often fights over who deserved what of the money.

The source also said that some of the Duggar family were glad TLC canceled the show so they could go off and do their own thing, but that Jim Bob has to be p**sed because it was a substantial amount of money that was lost.

Josh Duggar’s Lawyers Have Requested New Trial

Jim Bob was there throughout his son Josh’s nearly two-week trial for downloading and possessing child pornography. Josh, 33, was found guilty on December 9, 2021, and immediately taken into custody. Most recently, Duggar’s attorneys petitioned for acquittal and, at the least, a new trial.

Osh faces up to 20 years for each charge. The court has not yet responded to the motions. Be sure to keep up with the Duggars and return here often for more spoilers, news, and updates.
