Nate and Amanda go out on their first date, a dinner date at Society. He is handsomely dressed in a suit, and she is dressed in white silk off the shoulder dress and she looks stunning! Nate sees a much different woman from the buttoned-up attorney who was uptight and all about work, and only work, and sees a little bit of the light in Amanda that was dimmed when she was working on the Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) will challenge case, trying to avoid the stares from friends of the late Hilary Hamilton (Mishael Morgan) and worst of all, trying to outrun an abusive ex-boyfriend named Ripley Turner (Christian Keyes)!

Nate knows that Amanda is still healing from all that fear and trauma that she had tried so desperately to hide from others, and taking things slow is fine with him. They’ve been pretty close as friends and acquaintances since her arrival, and that hasn’t skipped a beat. Amanda had found an easy friendship with Nate, who didn’t stare at her and her striking resemblance to Hilary hadn’t affected him the way it had others. Amanda was comfortable enough with Nate to tell him a little more about herself than to keep herself a mystery.

Once others found out about Ripley, especially after he stabbed Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) by mistake, they all understood her trying to erase her existence from the Internet and were no longer suspicious of her. But Nate never was suspicious of her, and that was very appreciated by Amanda.

Amanda is relaxed and happy, and upbeat, and Nate tells her that he knows exactly what he likes as he looks at her, with Amanda obviously being what he likes! The evening proceeds nicely, the couple has fun and gets to know each other better. Amanda is opening up more about herself as Nate does the same, as it should be when people are dating each other, or even becoming good friends.

They talk a little more about how she is going to be the attorney for the free clinic that Nate and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) started, how helpful she was relating to their first patient, Jared (Michael Maclane) and she remarks how kind Nate was to offer Jared to live with him until he could get on his feet. But this isn’t a work date, it’s a “date date” so they focus on each other and having fun.

They become more and more comfortable with each other, and pretty soon there arises an intimate moment – and as they lean in towards each other, they share an unplanned kiss – their first kiss on their first date!

It has been a slow bond building, as is appropriate when one of the partners has been through an abusive situation, but both secretly hope it will keep building too much, much more.
