Public Figure Since Birth: Prince Harry Refused To Allow That For Archie

According to some royal commentators, practically everything that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do is designed to protect little Prince Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. That means protecting little Archie from the things that Prince Harry found damaging in his own life over the years.

For example, Prince Harry has made much of the fact that privacy is incredibly important to him. Ostensibly, Prince Harry craves solitude, a place away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi and the unwashed masses. Therefore, he and Meghan Markle have tried to ensure that Prince Archie has stayed out of the limelight as much as humanly possible from the day he was born.

Indeed, one of the very first things that British co-authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand suggest Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did when Archie was born was to refuse Queen Elizabeth’s offer of titles for the newborn. The details of that refusal are all laid out Scobie and Durand’s new book, “Finding Freedom,” which became available for purchase on August 4, 2020.

Protecting Prince Archie Is Prince Harry’s Mission

Now, the pages of Finding Freedom suggest that “Protecting Archie and maintaining his privacy was a top priority for the couple. It started when they chose not to give their son a royal title.”

The book goes on to claim further that, “Harry, who learned the dark side of growing up in the royal fishbowl early on in his life by watching his mother relentlessly chased by the paparazzi, and Meghan, quickly getting the same lesson, both wanted to ensure their son chose his own destiny rather than being forced into one by virtue of the family he had been born into.”

As the authors note, Prince Harry wanted to make sure that Archie won’t actually have to participate in royal life at all, ever, unless he specifically chooses to. For example, without titles, there will be no need for Archie to participate in any Royal engagements or to carry out the sort of duties the Duke and Duchess of Sussex used to.

Protecting Archie Means Harry Believes In Borders

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be considered “woke” by many commentators today, but there’s one area where the couple absolutely believe in borders. Part of that usually means that individuals with certain political leanings like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle don’t hold to notions of borders. However, in order to protect Prince Archie, the couple is known to have erected additional fencing to keep people off their property and away from their son.

Indeed, Finding Freedom discusses the measures Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have taken to prevent paparazzi from getting close enough that they could use long-range camera lenses in an effort to snap photos of Prince Archie (and probably of Harry and Meghan as well).

As Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote, “Additional fencing had been installed around the perimeter to prevent the long camera lenses they knew would eventually show up from interrupting their daily walks with Archie around the wooden landscape and sandy beachfront.”
