In the course of the last few months, Valentin’s life has been nothing but pleasant. He almost got married but then broke up with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). And not only did he lose his leading lady, but he also lost his identity and his castle. For James Patrick Stuart, it sure was a lot for him to swallow, especially since he’s been rooting for his character all this time, even though he might be the only one to do so.

Speaking to Soaps in Depth in a new interview, the actor put it this way, “The first thing that happens is you get sad, because you think, ‘Oh wait, I like Cynthia Watros (Nina), I like Val’s money, I like my character. And when Jax showed up, I felt myself bristle. We spend so much time acting as these characters, they become part of our psyches. So if something bad happens to Valentin, there’s that moment where I have to shake it off.”

And while James Patrick Stuart admits that sometimes it’s hard not to realize that he’s not his on-screen alter ego sometimes, he does care for Valentin a lot, even though he’s perhaps not the most popular person in Port Charles right now.

GH Spoilers –  What’s Next For Valentin Cassadine?

General Hospital spoilers say that James Patrick will have even more of a reason to worry about Valentin, especially since his ex Nina Reeves will be spending more and more time with her new lover, Jasper Jacks (Ingo Rademacher). And while Valentin has certainly done Nina wrong in more ways than one, James Patrick says that his character still wants her back. But whether or not she gives him another chance remains to be seen.
