In an interview with “The Cliff Dorfman” podcast, Galen Gering hinted that he’ll be leaving “Days of Our Lives” as Galen Gering. The actor said he doesn’t know what the future holds for him on the soap. But what he does know is that he’ll be returning for a few weeks to wrap up.
Gering debuted in the daytime world in 1999 as Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald on “Passions.” After the show ended, he joined the cast of “All My Children” and has been with the sudser since October 21, 2008. His character was introduced as an FBI agent who arrived at Salem in order to guard Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), as per the request of Roman Brady (Josh Taylor).

During the podcast interview, the actor said, “The fact of the matter is, I might as well say it. I don’t know how long I’m going to be on the show . . . what the next chapter holds. If I’m staying, if I’m going, I know I’m definitely going for a bit, you know what I’m saying.”
Later on, Dorman asked Gering if he’s returning to Salem, to which he responded, “Well, I have a couple weeks of shows to do.” He then added that his return would let thing wrap things up and spread his wings.
The actor also expressed that he’s feeling different kinds of emotions as he enters a new chapter of his life. He’s excited to return to Salem and he’s excited to spread his wings.

He added that portraying new roles is the main job of an actor.
“Being on a show where you go in for that long and you’re working so much, [it] becomes the ‘golden handcuffs.’ What happens is you become so comfortable in [your] character. This will be a whole new chapter. It’s a whole gamut of emotions — more than I could put into words,” he added.
“Days of Our Lives” spoilers hint that at least one soap star will leave the sudser and it seems like Gering is the first one on the list. There’s been rumors that Gering won’t be the only one who’ll get cut so viewers have to stay tuned to find out.
