Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Emily O’Brien Talks Being Back And Better Than Ever Before

NBC Days of Our Lives star Emily O’Brien (Gwen Rizczech) is back in the daytime television world and from what fans can tell, she’s better than ever before. While Gwen is definitely a handful on the canvas, Emily says that she’s enjoying getting to know her character and all the different ways that she ticks. Here’s what she has to say.

Emily says that while her character is definitely a handful on the canvas, she’s nothing like that in real life. In fact, she’s quite the opposite! However, she did feel an instant kinship with the volatile Gwen from the very beginning. Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Emily says that it did take some time to get used to the way her character operates.

Emily said, “She’s different and quite unpredictable and much more dangerous, maybe I should say. She doesn’t look or behave like most of the people in town, and that’s really fun. There’s more room to make a character colorful than if you are playing an ingenue or a straight character, and it’s more interesting.”

Since making her debut earlier this summer, Emily says that she has been enjoying all of the different twists and turns that her character has been taking lately. But she also says that coming to Salem from The Young and the Restless’ Genoa City after a ten-year break from the soap world took some getting used to again. That, and the fact that the cast and crew of Days of Our Lives work twice or even triple the speed sometimes compared to their daytime television counterpart.

DOOL Spoilers – What’s Next For Gwen?

Emily continued, “On The Young and the Restless we did maybe an extra episode per week, and on Days of Our Lives, we were doing two episodes per day. That was very overwhelming for me. Then I finally got the hang of it. It’s taught me definite memorization skills and to just go with your gut.”
