Countess Sophie Heads To The Pub – Steps Up While Queen Elizabeth Remains In Lockdown

Sophie WessexBritish royals news reveals that Sophie Wessex was out and about this past week, as she paid a visit to a local pub, much like Prince William did the week prior. Countess Sophie visited the Half Moon Windlesham Pub, which recently re-opened after the coronavirus lockdown.

Sophie was on hand to meet with other members of the Women’s Institute, and while she was there, she met with the pub owners to learn about the changes they’ve had to make and how the business has been affected by the lockdown.

The visit was publicized on the @TheRoyalFamily Instagram feed. The palace posted several photos of Countess Sophie visiting the pub and chatting with the owners, along with the following caption: “This afternoon, The Countess of Wessex joined fellow members of the Bagshot @WomensInstitute for a catch-up at @thehalfmoon.windlesham, Surrey, which re-opened at the weekend.”

The caption continued: “During her visit, The Countess met the pub’s owners, the Sturt family, as well as kitchen and bar staff. She heard how the business has been affected by COVID-19 and lockdown, and what measures they have had to take in order to welcome patrons again.”

Aside from her recent outings, Countess Sophie has been spending her time in lockdown with her husband Prince Edward, and their two children. Last month, Countess Sophie met and thanked volunteers at St. John Ambulance’s Operational Support Hub, and just days ago, she visited Childline NSPCC to thank volunteers there for helping to combat child abuse.

Queen Elizabeth is said to thoroughly appreciate Countess Sophie’s willingness to step up and emerge from lockdown with her public visits. Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Charles, and Camilla Parker-Bowles have also made public appearances in recent days as well, and it’s a good thing since it doesn’t look like Queen Elizabeth will be emerging into the public eye anytime soon. Given the Queen’s age and her vulnerability to COVID-19, it’s wise for her to stay indoors in self-isolation.

Countess Sophie’s visit to the pub also supported Queen Elizabeth’s support of the Women’s Institute, so it was much more than just a visit to a pub. Sophie offered support and empathy for the pub owners and small businesses in general as she learned about the struggles that the owners had gone through with their business being interrupted for so long.

It’s great to see Countess Sophie getting out and about and supporting Queen Elizabeth and carrying on the mission of the royal family. Of course, since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer present for royal engagements, it seems that there’s much more focus on Countess Sophie and her very full calendar. Are you glad to see more focus on Countess Sophie?
