Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Victor Newman Is Not The Man We Used To Know – Unexpected Ally Emerges

Young and the Restless: Victor Newman's (Eric Braeden)

Everything old is new again on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Revisiting one of the occasional truce’s in show history, Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) call for help from the Jabot parking garage was instantly responded to by Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).

Dina Mergeron’s (Marla Adams) Alzheimer’s diagnosis and placement in a memory care facility has deeply affected Jack, which Victor has responded to with somewhat surprising respect.

With that family-altering situation in mind, Jack’s taken notice that the ‘Moustache’ hasn’t been himself in recent weeks, but he hasn’t known why.

Young and the Restless Spoilers – Colonnade Room Rebuke

Longtime fans recall the legendary scene where Jack walked out of one of the classically beautiful Y&R’s sets, known as the Colonnade Room. He was having a confrontation with Victor when the ‘Black Knight’ collapsed. Jack strolled out, leaving him for dead.

The pitting of both lead male characters against each other became key to show history. Business battles between Newman Enterprises and Jabot Cosmetics were proxies for the personal animus that’s grown and sustained itself between these two prominent residents of Genoa City, Wisconsin.

Family ties and frailties, both men’s marrying Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), her loss of Jack’s baby when Victor accidentally caused her fall down the stairs at the old Ranch main house, Victor’s taking Kyle Abbott (as now played by Michael Mealor) under his wing in past years, Jack’s ongoing fatherly role in Adam Newman’s (as now played by Mark Grossman) life, were just some of the many legitimate points of contention. But, as stated, there have been moments of truce.

Y&R Spoilers – The Underground Collapse And Victor Newman’s Humanity

No one can claim that Victor is mostly responsible for the ill will that has long existed between him and Jack, except for Mr. Abbott, who knows they’ve each contributed to whatever their relationship is. Jack also knows that Victor helped him on more than one occasion.

One of the more recent and memorable moments of assistance came when Victor resuscitated Jack, who was suffering due to the collapse of Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) doomed night club, The Underground. Follow through scenes, where Y&R’s unlikely chums played versions of the classic film and television show characters from The Odd Couple, remain with the more endearing performances both actors delivered together.

Young and the Restless Spoilers – A New Chapter For Old Enemies May Begin

Life has passed and with that new chapters need to be written for these enduring characters. One way Y&R could do that is by having Victor and Jack build upon what appears to be starting, rather than just make this summer’s plot point nothing more than that.

Sure, it’s comfortable to write the characters Braeden and Bergman play into their same old enemy corners. But why not have them work together? The battles could continue, but mixed with the wisdom of their daytime experience Y&R fans would be presented with something fresh and therefore likely compelling.
