For the first time in 10 years, Rob Kazinsky is returning to Albert Square as Sean Slater amid his mother’s battle against ovarian cancer. “EastEnders” Executive Producer Jon Sen teases how Sean and Jean Slater’s (Gillian Wright) reunion is going to be.
In a behind-the-scenes interview, Sen shared that they want to show the bond that the mother and son shared, even after a decade of not seeing other.
“Jean’s cancer has been terrible for her but, in a way, has been one of the best things that’s ever happened to her because it’s shown her her inner-courage and it’s brought back her son,” he explained.

Sen teased that it is going to be “transfixing,” seeing Sean and Jean’s bond and Gillian and Rob’s chemistry. “You can’t take your eyes away from it.”
Kazinsky’s return to “EastEnders” is actually Wright’s idea, the actress revealed. Wright shared that she and Kate Oates talked a lot about the storyline, and when she was asked what would be on Jean’s wish list, Wright said she would want to look for her son, Sean.
“EastEnders” spoilers revealed that Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) has been in touch with her brother, but Jean does not know about it yet.
“Jean hasn’t seen him for 10 years, so there’s a lot of stuff to play in there as well, when Jean finds out. So that’s quite a big old deal,” Oates previously teased.

Oates also revealed that Rob had a lot of input regarding his character’s comeback to the Square.
“We spoke quite a lot before I convinced him to come back and he was giving me ideas and I was able to bring them back to the team,” she shared. “They were really strong and really thoughtful. He’s a very considered actor and he thinks a lot about that character, and that’s why I’m really excited to work with him.”
“EastEnders” spoilers tease that Sean’s comeback will also be eventful. He’s been gone for 10 long years, and obviously, there were a lot of things that happened while he’s away.
