Coronation Street Comings & Goings: Sophie Thompson Teases Rosemary’s Possible Return To The Cobbles

Coronation Street Spoilers: Rosemary Piper (Sophie Thompson)Last seen being charged with fraud, “Coronation Street” star Sophie Thompson hinted the possible return of her character Rosemary Piper to the cobbles. In an interview with Digital Spy’s Lorraine, Thompson said she’s willing to come back to the ITV soap. She even teased that Rosemary’s return could be possible given that her character didn’t die after all.

Thompson debuted her character, Rosemary the psychic, on Coronation Street in March 2018. However, as her storyline progressed, it was revealed that she wasn’t a real psychic and was in cahoots with Lewis Archer (Nigel Havers).

She put on an act that she could pass on messages to Audrey and Gail from their dead husbands. She was last seen on screen in June 2018, when she was charged with fraud while her puppet master Lewis managed to get away.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Thompson Loved The Character

In a previous interview with Digital Spy, Thompson described her character as “curious and vague.” She loved portraying the character and when asked who her inspiration was, she mentioned Hilda Ogden.

“I was really inspired by all the women on Corrie… Hilda was there for me. She gave me hope, she created this wonderful woman, the costume and the way she spoke…” Thompson said.

“The comedy and the strength of these women… I was in love with Bet and her hot pot, I did a recipe book with Betty’s hot pot in there – that’s how much of a fan I am.”

She also had good things to say about other Coronation Street cast members. She loved working with Sue Nicholls and Helen Worth. Thompson also said working as part of Coronation Street was different from her time on EastEnders. She was grateful for being part of both popular sudsers.

When asked if she had a sixth sense, she revealed that she had her fair share of weird experiences. She recalled that when she worked at the Bristol Old Vic a few years back, she felt “a powerful presence from another time.”

Thompson’s film credits include Four Weddings and a Funeral, Persuasion, Emma, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. She also competed in Celebrity MasterChef, and wrote a recipe book, entitled My Family Kitchen.
