The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Devon Crushed By Tragedy – Hevon Sorrow

Devon (Bryton James) was as happy as he’d ever been on ‘The Young and the Restless‘. Hilary (Mishael Morgan) was having their baby and ‘Hevon’s’ sequel was progressing nicely. But then tragedy literally struck.

Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry) raced out of the Genoa City Athletic Club, as Lily (Christel Khalil) and Hilary trailed him. He was chasing after Shauna (Camryn Hamm) who was upset by the latest verbal bash that took place between Charlie’s mom and her voluntary guardian.

Lily was irked that Charlie and Shauna were left alone in ‘Hevon’s’ plush penthouse. Mrs. Ashby didn’t know that Hilary was unaware ‘Sharlie’, or ‘Chauna’ if one prefers, planned that get-together. However, instead of simply acknowledging that point, Hilary opted to engage Lily.

Y&R’s clearly telegraphed road scene showed Lily, a distracted driver moving quickly through traffic in downtown Genoa City, continuing to argue in the car with Hilary. Surely, something was bound to happen. A semi then broadsided Lily’s car.

The loss of the baby naturally crushed Devon. But the death of Hilary would send him into a tailspin like no other scenario James’ character has ever been written into.

The likelihood of Morgan’s character being killed off was a non-factor a few months ago. But then the actor revealed via social media that she was voluntarily leaving the cast. Her real life pregnancy may have played into contract negotiations. However, both parties parted amicably which seemed to bode well for Hilary’s eventual return.

A recast is always possible if Hilary lives. The option of Morgan eventually returning remains open even if the love of Devon’s life dies, as she could portray another character.

‘Hevon’ ends, assuming Hilary passes as a result of her injuries. That would be a major loss because the on-screen chemistry between Morgan and James was consistently outstanding since they were first paired earlier this decade.

It’s always a shame to see a terrific actor leave any cast. But, all the best is offered to Morgan as she and her family continue growing.
