The Young and the Restless Recap Friday, July 20: Devon Reveals Heartbreaking News

“The Young and the Restless” (YR) recap for Friday, July 20, 2018, reveals that at the hospital, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) rushes in and asks Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) “Where is she?” He learns that Hilary Curtis (Mishael Morgan) just got out of surgery and the baby did not make it. Neil comforts Devon. Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard), Lily Ashby (Christel Khalil), Charlie Ashby (Noah Alexander), and Shauna Nelson (Camryn Hamm) join them. Devon wants details and Lily Ashby fills him in on the truck hitting them.

Charlie and Shauna get more into details and Devon is frustrated that their hooking-up at his place led to the accident. He then rants about charging the truck driver, but Cane and Charlie try to get his focus on Hilary’s recovery. Nate Hastings (Brooks Darnell) appears and lets them know that Hilary pulled through surgery despite her severe injuries and massive hemorrhaging.

Devon heads to the ICU unit and sits by Hilary’s side. He urges her to keep fighting. She mumbles and wants to know why she is in the hospital. Devon tells her about the accident. She asks about the baby and Devon lets her know that it didn’t make it. They cry.

At the Athletic Club, Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) and Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) chat about having a sequel to their San Francisco trip this summer.

Over at Sharon McAvoy’s (Sharon Case) place, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) finds her engagement ring and gets concerned.

Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) pays Phyllis Summers (Gina Tognoni) a visit and she tells him the latest about Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and how she kicked him out. Jack feels sorry for her and gives her a hug. He gets more details and tells Phyllis she is being too hard on him. He reminds her he is an addict and she needs to show some compassion. Phyllis throws up about how he lied and Jack points out that is a symptom. She is convinced to give him another chance.

At the Abbott mansion, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) says Mrs. Martinez (Margarita Franco) wants to know how long he will be staying and he says it’s only temporary. Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) walks in and she is thrilled to have Billy back. She questions the paperwork to the yacht and Billy offers to take her to see it. Later, Phyllis Summers arrives to see Billy, but he is out with Ashley.

Back over at the Athletic Club, Ashley Abbott questions Billy again about the yacht and why he got the money reimbursed. Billy changes the subject by telling her he is sending her to Berlin for work. Later, Billy receives a text about a poker game. Shortly after, Phyllis Summers arrives and asks Mariah Copeland and Tessa Porter if they have seen Billy. They suggest he might be upstairs and continue on with their conversation. Tessa agrees to go with Mariah to San Francisco.

Upon the roof deck, Phyllis does not find Billy so she heads to the suite that he was in the last time she caught him gambling. She peeks in and there he is. Downstairs, Nick Newman arrives wondering where Sharon McAvoy went but Mariah informs him she has not seen her. Tessa tells Mariah that Devon Hamilton needs her at work and leaves. Phyllis joins Nick at the bar. Phyllis fills Nick on what happened with her and Billy and then he confides in her about Sharon and says they may be over. Phyllis invites Nick back to her place to drink and chat. Mariah visits the Dive Bar and is shocked to see Tessa embracing an unknown woman.

Back at the Abbott mansion, Ashley Abbott wants Kyle Abbott to report any unusual ‘Billy activity’ to her. Kyle wonders what he will get in return. Ashley offers to be a powerful ally if Billy Abbott goes up in flames so Kyle is in.

Jack Abbott and Ashley Abbott meet up at Crimson Lights. Jack fills her in about Dark Horse.

Phyllis Summers and Nick Newman arrive at her place. Nick tells Phyllis how he impersonated J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) and started up Dark Horse. Phyllis admires what he has done. They play video games and Nick throws up that Sharon had a negative reaction to what he did. Phyllis thinks she is attached to the safe Nick. Nick helps Phyllis off the floor. In the kitchen, they get turned on by how bad to the bone they both are. The kiss and start ripping off clothes and have sex on the kitchen island.

Billy Abbott arrives back to the mansion and Kyle Abbott gives him a hard time about sending Ashley Abbott to Berlin. Billy says his top priority is fixing things with Phyllis Summers.
