Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) never expected her past to be revealed on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But it was and by who else, Hilary (Mishael Morgan). Meanwhile, Nick (Joshua Morrow) received a double-jolt on the same day. His girlfriend’s backstory was exposed and he came under suspicion of having torched The Underground.
Y&R fans should be compelled by the developments executive producer and head writer Mal Young greenlighted. There’s no way to know how Chelsea, or Nick will restore their reputations, or if ‘Chick’ will survive. Yes, this is what good soap looks like.

It’s true that Chelsea and Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) shouldn’t have done what they did in the past. However, there was also no justifying the manner in which Hilary publicly exposed her one-time boyfriend and business partner. She wasn’t promoting the public good. Instead Hilary just wanted revenge, which flaps her flawed moral fiber once again.
Under normal circumstances Nick would be solely focused on the Chelsea reveal. In this instance, he’ll need to clear his name somehow. Personal pressures will naturally affect how ‘Chick’ deals with each other as well.
Solid storylines make sense because they build off audience knowledge of character’s histories. In Chelsea’s case, it was known that she was a scam artist and that she and Jordan worked together in New York before they separately came to Genoa City. That’s why what was exposed to the world on GC Buzz fits, while also establishing multiple new issues that must be addressed.
Nick being suspected of arson is understandable. Considering the odd circumstances that led to Dina (Marla Adams) accidentally setting fire to his nightclub, it makes sense to believe that The Underground’s owner could become a top suspect in a perceived crime. There appears to be no evidence of Dina’s involvement, so the heat will likely remain on Nick for awhile.
