The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Scott Decides To Stay In Genoa City – GC Buzz An Option?

Scott (Daniel Hall) nearly lost his life on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But Lauren’s (Tracey Bregman) insistence combined with Victor’s (Eric Braeden) money and connections helped to save him. Now, after having been fired by his London-based editor, Mr. Grainger decided that he needs to stay in Genoa City.

Seasoned soap viewers knew that Scott wasn’t going anywhere. Hall’s addition to the cast has generated encouraging early reviews from this scribe. He’s a good actor who’s playing an interesting character. But, all writers are fascinating as everyone readily agrees. Yes? (Wink to the audience of this column.)

Scott was a serious journalist who was working in a war zone. There obviously isn’t a comparable position available in his hometown. In days past the Genoa City Chronicle would have been a natural fit, but not on Y&R in 2017. Might Devon’s (Bryton James) GC Buzz be a good landing spot? Scott’s presence could push that online outlet in the more serious direction that Devon recently suggested.

Also, kudos to TPTB for giving Bregman another meaty arc to work within. The storyline that had her family business on the verge of extinction seemed to be a big script bite all on its own. So expanding Lauren’s backstory, by reviving the Scott character, should afford Bregman regular work.

Bregman’s historical importance on this show dates back to 1984, when she joined the cast. Lauren has evolved in so many ways since ‘The Big-80’s’. Tenured viewers recall her epic, if not the greatest of all-time battles against GC’s most notorious villain, Sheila (played by the spectacular Kimberlin Brown).

If there was only a way to rewrite more recent history, where the electric Michelle Stafford assumed a brief dual role by playing Sheila, post-plastic surgery and then was shot. This is daytime drama. So possibly there is a chance that Scott’s one-time kidnapper (when this character truly was a kid) can return, as embodied by Brown. Or maybe Sheila had a twin?
