The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nikki Tries to Protect Newman Group – Victor Enemy Again

The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nikki Tries to Protect Newman Group – Victor Enemy AgainThe Newman group is infamous on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Notice the word group was used instead of family. That’s because the dynamic that Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) have jointly created isn’t about love.

While there are various known Newman ‘family’ members, this feature will focus exclusively on current combatants. Victor, Nikki and Nick (Joshua Morrow) stand in the ring.

Nikki knows that Victor is on another rampage and wants her son to be prepared to fight. Nick believed he was distancing himself from his father’s wrath, but will soon understand that he’s still within that amoral man’s grasp.

Family means different things to different Y&R viewers. Some believe that family members are biologically connected individuals, all who marry into their clan and also those who may have been legally adopted. Others think of friends as family. That’s an emotional play that involves feeling over an exact definition, but is good-hearted and therefore positive.

To Victor family means strict loyalty. By his account, Nikki and Nick are no longer his family. All Victor detractors stop at this point. They brush off whatever Nikki and Nick have done, or are doing and move on.

Victor’s love isn’t enough for Nikki. He had enough of her constant nagging and ungrateful demeanor. Nick is a different calculation.

This kid has long been seen as not being a chip off the old man’s block. ‘Little Lord Nicholas’ is like his mother. He’s detestable and irredeemable, as only a closed mind would think.

Nick’s discovery that his father was linked to Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) ended the peace accord that appeared to exist within the Newman group. That shocking realization and confirmation by the ‘Moustache’ was quickly passed on to mom.

Nikki was sickened by what she learned and has subsequently referenced Adam’s (Justin Hartley) death when justifying her behavior toward Victor. That’s the basis of her rationalization for bad-mouthing her husband and for encouraging Nick to sever ties with his dad. Plus it allows her to kiss Jack (Peter Bergman) and secure him as her backup man.

Starting with the factual definition and also offering a nod to other people who are considered as such, every Y&R viewer knows that the Newman’s are not now and have rarely ever acted like family. But these characters do make great soap.
