‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Dylan Connects with Alex – Dangerous Assignment Starts

'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Dylan Connects with Alex – Dangerous Assignment StartsDylan (Steve Burton) started his dangerous assignment on ‘The Young and the Restless’. He was sent to Miami in order to infiltrate a drug kingpin’s operation. He’ll first connect with Luther Fisk’s (no actor has been confirmed as playing this part) top gun Alex Dettmer (Jessica Nicole Webb).

According to Webb’s Internet Movie Database Page, she’s set to debut on Y&R as of January 11. Yes, the modern soap world (just like the rest of the world) has become far more equalized as compared to yesteryear.

However, no souls who try to live by a moral code would argue that it’s ‘progress’ for a female character to be working in the top position of criminal organization. Then again, it could be suggested that whenever anyone chooses to commit good, bad or indifferent acts that equality has been demonstrated.

Savvy Y&R viewers know that Burton gave early notice of his intended departure from the the cast, filmed his final scenes in December and will appear as Dylan for the last time during this month (January). Webb’s IMDB page notes her final scheduled appearance as January 19. So Dylan’s exit will occur on that date, or very shortly thereafter.

The possibility of Burton’s character being killed off is obvious, though hardly the only exit possibility. Since this actor appears to have left Y&R on good terms, an open-ending for Dylan might have been written.

If Dylan doesn’t die in the line of duty he will either disappear, or somehow choose to not return to Genoa City, or return and then depart indefinitely. As this is the land of daytime drama, other unusual circumstances could also factor into this coming climax.

Those who’ve worked on the management side in the business world, or who are business owners themselves appreciate any employee who offers sizable notice. Doing so allows a business to prepare for an employee’s departure.

Y&R was given plenty of lead time to write a suitable ending for the Dylan character. New co-executive producer and head writer Sally Sussman and her team have surely created a fitting ending for a solid actor who joined the cast in 2013. Devoted fans are about to watch it play out.
