'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Cane Let's Loose In Tokyo – Juliet And Alcohol Spell Trouble For Cane's Marriage And JobCane (Daniel Goddard) has been behaving erratically for awhile on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Now, after Juliet (Laur Allen) helped him to salvage a crucial business deal, he let’s loose in Tokyo, Japan. Sake was his drink of choice.

The “bro-hug” (per Juliet) Cane gave Mr. Sato (Richard Narita) was ridiculous. What in the name of all that’s uncool was Brash and Sassy’s point man thinking when he physically embraced the very traditional Japanese business owner?

Cane had overcome Mr. Sato’s objections regarding use of male products in the Asian market. Narita’s character then agreed to become the exclusive distributor of the Genoa City-based cosmetic’s company’s line. Then came the unexpected embrace.

Juliet traveled with Cane at Vickie’s (Amelia Heinle) request in order to serve as a language and cultural translator.

It’s good she was by his side, as the advice Juliet offered immediately after the perceived slight, along with her facilitation of Sato’s reconsideration proved to be very important. With that, all should have been okay.

Light-hearted celebrations are fine. Overindulging in alcohol in front of a colleague crosses a line. Countless viewers can surely relate to Cane’s relief in seeing his deal rescued. But they also likely agree that unwinding with Juliet should have been done in moderation. And, as noted ‘Mr. Hug’ did more than that.

Cane is the type of person who feels compelled to tell his wife Lily (Christel Khalil) everything, due to past marital issues they’ve had. That’s honorable, but will also surely create conflict once again.

Vickie threw Cane a bone by allowing him to negotiate this deal. Of course, her placating attempts won’t last forever. She’ll expect Cane to deliver, which also means that he has to maintain her trust. This multiple-level debacle kills confidence.

Kudos to Y&R for writing Goddard’s character in a different direction. The fresh arc allows this strong actor to play a more off-balanced version of Cane. The possibilities created within his business and personal life should prove to be meaty as this process in the near future.
