The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Ashley’s Remarkable Turnaround – Dina Needs and Receives Compassion

The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Ashley's Remarkable Turnaround – Dina Needs and Receives CompassionYes, Ashley (Eileen Davidson) has crossed into compassion territory on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Dina (Marla Adams), who was once seen as the bane of her existence, has become the mother who is in need of compassion.

Ashley came to believe that her mother was suffering from depression, which seemed to supplant (at least for now) the potential of a dementia storyline. Dina then surprisingly agreed with the daughter who has held an understandable grudge against her regarding a past paternity secret.

Davidson’s character is open to Dina, which wasn’t a certainty when she flew in from France earlier this year. The power of redemption and therefore, progress are refreshing nouns to see employed in Genoa City.

Look, Dina abandoned her family in the 1980’s. That storyline reflected the valueless ideas that various real world egos had been pushing since the 1960’s. Finding oneself, exploring the inner you and all the rest of it, when honestly analyzed and seen clearly through retrospect was and remains masked self-centeredness. That’s the opposite of selflessness and humility.

Dina appears to be one of those people who wasn’t initially fit to be a mother. She lacked the warm and sacrificial qualities many other females have exhibited across time. And yes, it’s accurate to invoke the terms mother and female because Dina is both. This story isn’t about John (Jerry Douglas), who wasn’t perfect, but never walked away from the family his free will enabled him to create.

However, a rant about compassion can’t deny Dina love. Choosing to do that would put anyone, including this author, in the same category as Adams’ character.

Adams is offered full kudos for returning to a role she hasn’t inhabited on a full-time basis for decades. Dina injects an element into Y&R that was needed and has created storyline paths that wouldn’t have existed otherwise. Extended applause is also offered to exiting co-executive producer and head writer Sally Sussman, along with her team in this regard.
