The Young and the Restless: Jack and Gloria Connection Is a Stretch – Nearly Impossible To Believe

The Young and the Restless: Jack and Gloria Connection Is a Stretch – Nearly Impossible To BelieveJack (Peter Bergman) and Gloria (Judith Chapman) connecting on ‘The Young and the Restless’ is almost totally absurd. But this is a soap, so thumbing a hole through one’s phone, or pounding on the keyboard isn’t a proper response. However, it is fair for all seasoned observers and newer daytime devotees to question the believability of this particular plotted point.

Longtime viewers know how much Jack detests Gloria. Years ago she glowwormed her way into John’s (Jerry Douglas) life. John Junior had two, not just one, of the purported marriages between his dad and faux mother-in-law ruled invalid. Then ‘Jackie’ allows himself to become romantically entangled with this woman in 2017. What?!

Yet all soapy fans should always consider their real lives and those of others before emotionally knee-jerking. There is no one who fans have ever known who hasn’t done something similar in the real world? Oh, this scribe isn’t saying that every Y&R fan knows of at least one impossible connection. But everyone combined is fully unaware of zero mismatched people? Unlikely.

So Lauren (Tracey Bregman) and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) truly enjoyed stringing Gloria along inside the Genoa City Athletic Club dining room. Lauren bought her current mother-in-law a drink and proceeded to imply that she was thanking her for engineering Jabot’s takeover of Fenmore’s.

Gloria was thrilled with the development and advised both ladies that she’d put a good word in for each of them with Jack. She also noted that they should have a Plan B ready in case things didn’t work out. Then Lauren readjusted Gloria’s mind.

A subsequent scene showed Jack arriving at the Top of the Tower, which was an odd setting in that it is Victor’s (Eric Braeden) territory. Each party filled the other in and then the drinks started to flow. From that point forward the storyline stretched, which is where this feature jumped off into the deep end. Unless, of course, this storyline merely reflects some of the real lives that viewers are aware of.
