Neighbours Spoilers: Familiar Face Returns To Ramsay Street And Stirs Up Major Drama

After fans spotted a picture of Natalie Bassingthwaighte filming for Neighbours on Ryan Thomas’ Instagram back in October, it was announced that Izzy would be returning to Erinsborough after ten years.

Natalie was back to film a one hour special episode which will be aired in February as part of a new contract agreement with the shows production company. Her home wrecking character hasn’t been seen on screen since 2007, when she revealed that Karl (Alan Fletcher) was the biological father of her daughter Holly (Chaya Broadmore). The storyline that lead to this shock confession is probably what Izzy is best known for – Karl cheated on his wife Susan (Jackie Woodburne) with the femme fatal.

In a promotional trailer released after the 2017 season finale, Izzy arrives back on Ramsay Street. Framed with the words “get ready – Izzy’s coming back”, the trailer shows Izzy walking onto Ramsay street, cut between shots of Karl and Susan restless in bed. Karl then receives a text from Izzy which reads, “Karl I need to see you”. What does Izzy want – will it shake up Karl and Susan’s relationship once more?

Izzy got a slight mention in the finale episode of 2017, when Karl declared that she had left daughter Holly with her Uncle Mal in England while she holidayed with her boyfriend. This made Karl uncomfortable, and so he flew to England to be with his daughter. Does her return have something to do with this?

Talking about returning to the Australian soap, Natalie stated, “I had the most extraordinary time working on Neighbours all those years ago with mentors like Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne and Stefan Dennis. I feel really blessed to have had the opportunity to learn my craft on the show and I’m so excited to be back on set.”

To this, Neighbours’ executive producer Jason Herbison added, “Izzy is Ramsay Street’s ultimate homewrecker, and her homecoming to Ramsay Street will be explosive. We’ve been in talks with Natalie about returning for quite some time and I’m thrilled that it’s finally come together. She’s a fearless performer and a dynamic on-screen presence. Seeing her on set with Alan and Jackie this week, there’s no doubt the magic is still there.”
