General Hospital Spoilers: There’s A New Sam Morgan In Town

General Hospital Spoilers: There's A New Sam Morgan In TownWith a new Jason on General Hospital, is a new Sam sure to follow? According to Kelly Monaco, it’s already happened!

If you’ve thought Monaco’s portrayal of the beautiful brunette P.I. has been a little, um, different lately, you’re not alone.

The normally grounded mom was a rock her family could count on. She was the reasonable, level-headed one that her more extreme mom Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and two younger, more emotional sisters could turn to.

But then she got that darn parasitic disease that no one can pronounce, and ever since then she’s been an emotional, not to mention lethal, mess.

Why? Well for starters, the toxoplasmosis influence can’t be underestimated in her cray decision to try and kill Sonny (Maurice Benard).

But still there’s a little extra mysterious unknown that Monaco alludes to in an interview with ABC Soaps In Depth: “Even without the illness, I’m playing something out of character.”

And co-headwriter Shelly Altman confirms that Sam’s dramatic journey is far from over. For example, why did her hallucinations manifest in the peculiar manner that they did? “She’s cured from the disease,” says Altman, “but still has questions about the symptoms.”

What, a faux Sam? Whoa now, no one is suggesting that GH viewers have been watching a fake Sam all these years, to go along with a fake Jason. But there’s no denying that something strange is up with the normally cool, calm, and collected Sam that fans have come to know and love!

The 180 revolution in character was a distinct challenge for Monaco and one she thought was, “so silly in the beginning.”

Nonetheless Sam’s baffling behavior has given her the opportunity to flex her acting wings, with impressive results. Monaco notes that she has been given the chance to, “step into a range of emotions,” that she’d never played on the hit ABC soap.

What does the future hold for Sam now that Steve Burton has returned to the iconic role that made him famous? Stay tuned fans, Monaco promises, “Oh, there’s more to come, so much more.”
